Way of the Samurai 4 (侍道4 Samurai Dou 4) is a video game developed by Acquire and published by Spike for the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. It is the latest installment of the Way of the Samurai series, released in Japan in March 3, 2011. The game offers a mix of story, combat and event scenes.
An English version was announced on January 19, 2012 by Rising Star Games. The release of the game in Europe was on October 5, 2012.On April 4, 2012, XSEED Games published the game for the U.S. as a downloadable title on PlayStation Network with a release date of August 21, 2012. The game was initially a Playstation 3 exclusive. but later PC port is announced by Ghostlight Games, the publisher responsible for patiently localising a number of otherwise overlooked Japanese games in Europe.
On the Ghostlight blog, the publisher said the port is due sometime this year, and is a collaboration with original developer Acquire and publisher Spike Chunsoft.
Way of the Samurai 4 released on PS3 in 2012, coming west via Atlus and NIS America. Set in the mid 19th Century, it puts players in the role of a ronin caught up in a three way battle for influence between the Shogunate, the Isolationists, and foreign powers. In addition to its much praised combat system, the Way of the Samurai series offers a variety of other gameplay features, with a wealth of side activities and customisation on offer. It even has a pretty cool online feature inspired by Demon’s Souls.
This will be the first Way of the Samurai game on PC. Previous titles released on PS2, PS3 and PSP, with one entry – Way of the Samurai 3 – making it to Xbox 360.
