Thread: G&G has done enough. :D

  1. #1

Default G&G has done enough. :D

Numerous people have faced problems with their sets. They claim to sell original products but people often find sim cards, people's pics on their newly bought cells. Many already knew that they're ripping off normal people by selling refurbished cells as new ones. Now they're paying for their crime.

But the thing is, all of these are not true.

For example Rangs - importer for sony claims that the sets they sell only has genuine IMEI, others in the market are grey and they provide a web site address to check if the IMEi is genuine. Problem is that ip is registered in bangladesh, so they are only adding the IMEIs that they are selling, so even if people buy a sony handset from sony japan showroom it will still show fake IMEI once checked in that website.

I guess Rangs somehow convinced this theory to the customs/NBR people and as result this is happening. Govt people searched the whole B.city and seized all sony TVs that are not imported by Rangs.

This is really pathetic in a way. It will only affect us the innocent people.

The so called genuine distributors can now fully control the market with bullshit price strategy. Rangs has this pathetic practice of selling a 1.5 year old set at launch price.
Although samsung and nokia are at least better at this area.

Can you elaborate which one of these isn't true?

Just because rangs does this, it doesn't make them any good. You see, when you sell refurbished cells, you should let your customers know like everybody in foreign countries does. This is called consumer rights. You atleast get genuine products from authorized resellers.

And what's wrong with buying at a higher price if it really helps our country? Providing tax is good. And gng takes full price of a new set claiming it's new although many of them are clearly used. I myself experienced these thrice. They explained the sim issue as "Apple used this sim to test this device". Are you **king kidding me! Average people don't understand this and are getting ripped off.

It's always better to buy a cell when it first comes out as there is ~zero% chance of it being refurbished.

What kind of sim cards did they find? Is it like At&t, Verizon or something like that? Because if that's the case then it can still be a brand new handset.

so according to you, sony nokia and samsung in bangladesh should sell a handset launched in 2013 at the same launch price in 2014 and not follow the international standard price reduction?
just because small retailers don't have the money/relation with the nbr, the bigs guns will take advantage?
don't you think the govn should look into this also?

Also do you really think someone using a pricey phone like the z2/s5/ios device will not understand the difference between a clone and a real device but the old last generation nbr people will?

I'm not gonna backup any of the authorized sellers but as far as I know, Samsung sells up to date cells in bd.

And yes, many people don't get the clone part right. I didn't saw any as the report claims but I have seen a lot of refurbished cells from them.

His argument is about the up to date pricing, not the handsets themselves.

All I'm trying to say is it's not right when you're getting a refurbished set at a price of a new set. It's our right to know the original condition of the set.

And I thought the excessive pricing is due to tax and other related costs but I can be wrong.

I agree that people should be told about the actual condition of the device, but there's also another problem with it. For instance, I am 100% sure most people will assume refurbished = broken once they are told what it means. Where as that is not the case, especially for Apple devices (for them, refurb=new).

But the selling of used phones as new, that should definitely be frowned upon if its not priced accordingly.

I don't trust them either but apparently their fb page is down. The news is also all over fb. So I guess it's true.

GNG were ... ppl with bum full of attitude. The first when they opened up at B City. O man, they like - ''dokan khulsi tor 7 jonmer bhaggo; ekhon ja daam chai tai diya fot. Warranty boila kisu nai.''

My friend and myself - we both found used items in their packaging number of times. Sometimes my friend stopped frm buying cuz the item looked used. Bluetooth headset, use korey aabr packet e rekhey disey. Egula refurbished o na, keu haatye korey niye ashchey. Like some of the superstores in DHaka whom carry foreign toys. If u look hard, u'll see the packets have been rebonded. Oder bari-r baccha ra kheley, then they think why throw away money when we can rip off a dumb sod? GnG did/possibly does a lot of this. Used stuff, luggage party stuff, their own stuff, refurbished crappola kono ta baad nai . R daam er kotha nai bollam.

Majkhaney competition r consumer berey jawa tey ektu bhodro hoisilo. Ekhon to showroom barai ritimoto apple-store type bhaab nitesey. They were actually pulling away a lot of authorized seller customers. Who'd wanna pay 15k+ xtra for the same set ryt? WHom knows mayb this customs raid was concocted by mkt leaders.

Jetai hok, all in all, abt time GnG got it.

I have heard about sets being used and refurbished but I personally had no complaints against them as I bought only Xperia and Motorola phones from them, from early 2012-14. I refuse to buy overpriced sets from the official showrooms, so this is a problem. :/ Any other alternatives?
