Lightbulb Namco Bandai Announces Knights Contract

Publisher promises "gruesome finishers" and a liberal dose of medieval style.

Namco Bandai officially announced its upcoming sword and sorcery adventure Knights Contract today, confirming a North American release window for the brutal action title some are already comparing to the God of War franchise.

In a brief statement, Namco Bandai said Knights Contract would make its way to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in North America sometime in 2011.

"In a time of swordsmen and magic, Knights Contract recreates this era with an astonishing visual appeal while keeping players at the edge of their seats with stylized over-the-top action," Namco Bandai said in a statement.

In Knights Contract, players will take on the role of Heinrich, a scythe-packing, immortal knight held under the spell of a witch he once killed and has since been resurrected, Gretchen. From Namco Bandai:
Armed with a razor sharp scythe and explosive witchcraft, players will use these tools with spectacular effects in order to return civility to the land. As players succeed in their journey, they can deal tremendous damage to their on-comers or unleash a gruesome finisher by coordinating the efforts of Heinrich and Gretchen. However, players must also keep a close eye on Gretchen as her mortality is the key to the duo's survival as Heinrich can never be vanquished. It's time to let the combos fly and lay waste to the hordes of darkness with a liberal dose of medieval panache. (From Gamespy)
