Question Does anyone still use Smile/BDCom connection?

Looks like any useful post on this subforum stopped approx an year ago. I was just wondering if there is still any user who can give me some details.

I was trying to get a connection in Chittagong, West Khulshi area. Banglalion and Qubee are readily availble here, but no broadband. I first contacted with Link3, they said they will come to this area later this year, probably after july or august. Then I contacted smile and they said they were planning to come to this area and if I take their connection they can provide it within a week or two. So far, they came and surveyed the area and took permission from our building owner to put a box with media converter and other things in the garage.

But still, I have some questions.

    1. How is their service now, considering in an area with new and not overloaded network?

    2. Can I use TP-Link TL-WR1043ND router with it? (This concern comes from this thread, and also, another concern about not being able to use the PPPoE connetion on linux comes from here.)

    3. What type of routing will they provide? Especially in chittagong? (I used to get mango, pico ([email protected]), maxnet routing and also BDIX with banglalion in Khulna, but in chittagong, banglalion only have mango and no BDIX)

I know I can get the answar of the last if I contact them and find someone who knows things (that doesn't happen very often in this country), but feedback from existing users would be great. Should I go with it or cancel the connection request?

I never used them in Ctg as they are not that active there but now using them in Dhaka. You won't get BDIX in Ctg afaik. Call them and explain that you're using a router, they'll reset your connection and you'll be able to use the router.

Thanks. Actually, I got the connection today. Routing is mango. There is BDIX, but the bandwidth is capped as same as the international bandwidht. So, I get low pings on BDIX connected IPs, but not the hith speeds. Lets see how the service turns out.
