Thread: Experienced ebay users please!!!

    Default Experienced ebay users please!!!

I sniped in an auction for a note iii. I won the item at around 11:30pm yesterday. Since I had nothing better to do I was clicking on different links on the webpage (seller other items, similar items, bid history). When I clicked on bid history I noticed something weird. Two of the highest bidders after me had zero feedbacks. I opened those two sellers bidding history and found that they only bid on two phones in the last 30 days. (and the seller had two phones for sell currently).
Then I opened the sellers other item's bidding history and found out that there were three bidders who were common in both the auction (including those two zero feedback bidders). I am pretty sure that the seller is a shill bidder. He has 100% postive feedback and has bought and sold a total of 30 items.

I still want the item badly so I did not report to ebay yet but I asked him to stop shell bidding. After that I sent him another message saying "I am very sorry that I had mistaken you as a shill bidder"...I don't mind the shill bidding as long as I receive the item. I also have lots of evidences against him for shill bidding but they would take a lot of time to write.

So in case I don't receive the item will I get a full refund using ebay buyer protection in Bangladesh. I am pretty sure that I will win a case against the seller since I have evidences of him committing more frauds (the shill bidding). Since I have told him about the shell bidding I don't think he would risk not sending the item to me as if I report to ebay about the shill bidding his good feedback ebay account would get banned.

Plzzz suggest something... i really want the item ..The seller is from russia and judging by the way he writes his emails, he seems like a nice person ( gives a good greeting and stuff)

The buyer u***n, s***6 and d***i are common in almost all of his previous auctions.

Yes you're covered under ebay buyer protection for a full refund if he doesn't ship. What I would do is after he ships, and you get it, report it to ebay and maybe you'll get the actual price instead of the inflated one.

Don't feel bad about it when you do that, he's screwing you over and you can do the same.

Meaning? I need to choose regular shipping from the buyer's ebay page option?

    yes.

when you choose services like registered mail, dhl, ups etc. these corrupt customs officers figures you must be rich and they try to blackmail you into giving them money (so called tax). They even put taxes on gift items, which is against the law.

How high are the shipping charges when you ship an item via regular mail? Do you think it is a viable alternative to purchase some computer components(GPU for example) off of eBay?

if you want to order really expensive stuff with regular mail, in that case first you have to make friends with your local post man (i am not talking about bribe), just to make sure your items are not stolen in transit.

Shipping charges are usually mentioned on the eBay page and it varies, you can look it up. Most of the time it is affordable.

    i read it here http://www.fedex.com/bd/shippingguide/importguidelines/

I quote from that site "Duty and taxes will be assessed on all shipments, including gift items. Duty exempt imports include shipments from governments, semi-government organizations, embassies, etc."

I still maybe wrong...I would actually be happy if I'm wrong.

Well I took the item directly from the Dhaka Gpo. It is located beside baitul mukaram. Purchases made through ebay includes name, address and phone number. Take a ID card to prove your name, a photocopy of a electricity bill to prove your address..and proving the phone number isn't really necessary....You may have to pay bribes inorder to take the item directly from gpo. However it is a lot safer and quicker.

^ wow never did any of that before. and i have ordered some really expensive stuffs over the years, like iPhones (when it first came out and wasn't available in BD) and other things like that. The post man always brings my package to my home.
What were the conditions of the items once shipped at your place? Immaculate and intact or were they tampered with? The post man who delivers items to our place is well-acquainted with us. I purchased some stuffs off of Healthdesigns two years back. The shipping took 1 month as the items were backordered but the items arrived immaculate and intact, and I had to pay ~700 BDT custom charges.

I didn't know the tax exempt gift was for family and spouse, thought that included all gifts.

I once had a package delivered through fedex and had to pay a Tk1200 (on $150 value of stuff) tax straight from Fedex's site using a credit card. I had the option of paying in person too but they could not provide an estimate.

if those items were medicine or supplements, they are not supposed to tax you... that's against the laws. that's why i call these people "corrupt, people should challenge them more often.

actually it does exempts almost all gift... you just have to read through the law carefully.
