Recently I used a lumia 625. Honestly Speaking, I didn't like wp8. It felt snappy and smother than android in some aspect. But I wasn't happy with overall user exp.

But it depends on personal preferences. Like @Vanguard bro os more than happy with his Lumia 520. (yes I saw your post. )
So if you like Windows Phone 8 and can get over the fact that it practically has no File manager, And you're not so geeky about lots of apps and games, then windows phone 8 is good.

btw, @Vanguard bro which browser do you use in your phone? IE consumes too much data for a limited plan.

I have native office 365 support. I can sync/create/edit/view my office files practically from anywhere. Have 7GB Onedrive storage where i can upload/download anything. If i link my facebook account with my microsoft account, i dont even need to install the facebook app. Why i shouldnt be happy? And there are tons of app for WP8 nowadays.

I use IE. Got routers both in my office and in my home. And when im outside, i switch to 3G. Airtel 3G is darn cheap.

This is the problem with newer Smart phones. They just assume you have unlimited data plan.

Solely depends on what you want. For me, i don't buy cellphone for playing games or pass my time searching every nook and cranny of it. I want a phone with decent music quality, a good camera and effective apps that suits my daily lifestyle. I want an easy and smoother experience. And thats all present in the phone you mentioned there.

    To the OP..
Camera n Battery chara theres nothing really that stands out about WP8 phones .. n You will face difficulties if u want to use ur phone for more than camera,music.. but like Van bro said for normal use .. it's not bad

Thank you but no thank you. In S4, I spent an hour and 30 minutes just to find out where the internet sharing option is. I failed. Now tell me i'm an android amateur, i don't care.

Lumia 620 user here. If u r addicted to apps & games stay away from it. Though U will find most of the essential apps on w8 but u may have to buy some of them (cracked app isn't an option & enabling Dev mod is a pain in the a**). As Vanguard said Microsoft Office is really slick on Lumia as a plus point. & regarding interface I don't think they r all that different at the end of the day. @Vanguard , which video player do u use?

The default one. Windows media player. I usually convert .flv or other formats into .wmv by FreeVideoConverter before putting into my WP8. Simple!

*** Another important thing is that Windows Phone store accepts visa card in a very easy way. So buying the original softwares are also made easy. Tried once to buy AngryBird, damn satisfied with the service. I bet Master Card will be the same as well.

*** Another important thing is that Windows Phone store accepts visa card in a very easy way. So buying the original softwares are also made easy. Tried once to buy AngryBird, damn satisfied with the service. I bet Master Card will be the same as well.
Have u tried MoliPlayer? That plays almost all formats but u have to put those videos under 'Camera Roll' folder.

Camera n Battery chara theres nothing really that stands out about WP8 phones .. n You will face difficulties if u want to use ur phone for more than camera,music.. but like Van bro said for normal use .. it's not bad
here is what i do on my phone:

    1. call ppl (lol)
    2. text (lol again?)
    3. FB
    4. YouTube
    5. twitter
    6. instagram
    7. music
    8. camera

and i am planing to use office apps.

and i never play games on cell phone if i can help it.

over the years i met only one guy who is actually an Android power user. and all he does is he changes the UI look once a few days.. and its the silliest thing i think anyone could do IMO. after all.. there is only so much u can do with a cell phone. I dont see anyone changing the windows theme on his/her desktop/laptop every single day..

so there goes the customization drama.. its not for me. i prefer living my life outside my cell phone. and i LOVE spending time on my desktop.

so depending on my using style.. i think it doesnt matter if i get a windows/iOS/Android.

so it all comes down to the device itself.

I find samsung UGLY.. my bad..

Nexus is nice but i used android and iOS before. i wanted to try WP8.

based on this, i am gonna be OK right?

Lumia series is extremely good at the 8 things you've mentioned. Lumia 1520 it is.

i disagree and disagree with other people too who really says android is simplest or something similar, as an experience i bought a w16 symphony device for my mother and handed over my father first to use he failed to receive the call and then after handed over to my mother and she also and still takes 5minutes to receive the phone :v, though she likes to play games like angry birds, flappy birds etc and can able to run apps but receiving calls is a big issues for maximum old people with android devices where's windows and other devices kinda simple to do, but as a os android is the best thing available in the market

i guess the customization thing you are talking about your power user friend may be changing custom rom and in that case its not only changes the theme but also you can customize rams like swapping pre customized sd data sharing and also can upgrade to latest updates which officially stops support for your devices and also plenty of apps support which you can never find in windows phone or in ios that easily, but as you are saying for normal use age and little bit of internet surfing so windows phone seems to be a good device for you to go

customization is not changing the theme every day. But customization is to change the functionality of the phone the way you feel comfortable with.
it is not the look of things But it is the small things that make your user experience better.
However, If you liked iOS, then you shouldn't be disappointed with WP8 either.

    I completely agree on that.

thats what i said, Customization is supposed to be about the functionality.. not about the look!

i started using Android with HTC Magic from September, 2009. May be back then things were different. what about today?

How did u/your friend/your friend's friend customize android? what functionality did he/she/they change? how was it usefull?

    i would like to learn.

u can under clock your cpu (not see why anyone would do it)
u can customize what u want in the notification bar (everything i need is already there though)
the navigation bars can be customized, u can add/remove apps and u can change the look (u can do that even in iOS!)
u can have different profile with different looks and apps (not sure why i would do that though.. do i use "good guys" profile while i am at home/work and then change it to "hentai" profile when i am elsewhere??)

u can make the OS lighter i guess? but WP8 is the lightest, and iOS is super smooth.. u cant match that. .. hmm

yes someone can get the next update of android only by customization when the device is not officially entitled to one. usually which should kill the performance 5-30% coz the device doesnt have the kinda stuff it needs to run the update smoothly.

i saw ppl throwing away iPhone 4s just coz it lagged a bit at iOS 7.

dont get me wrong though.. if the color and power u want.. by all means.. android is a super platform and second to none. i just dont find it(customization) all that usefull.
