11 weird music videos you wonít be able to forget
Do you ever come across a really great music video and find yourself totally absorbed ? Later on during a quiet part of the day youíll find yourself going over it in your mind and making a note to look it up when you get home. It happens to me every now and again and here are some of my favourite musical short films which I enjoy watching over and over again.
Youíll be taken to strange worlds where entire stories can be told in the space of a few minutes and you can meet fantastical and weird creatures and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
1. Big Bad Wolf by Duck Sauce
Number one on my list is Big Bad Wolf by Duck Sauce as itís a video that once viewed you really canít forget. This matches an awesomely catchy tune with some of the most bizarre visuals youíll see and pushes the boundaries of whatís acceptable in the mainstream. Describing it doesnít do the video justice so instead of reading my take on faces replacing crotches just watch it and youíll see what I mean.

2. Aphex Twin- Come to Daddy
A few of Aphex Twinís music videos are like complete short films; Come to Daddy is the most memorable and the one I find the most disturbing. Itís worth watching the whole thing but fast forward to around the 4 minute mark for the bit with the creature and some of the most terrifying visuals ever seen in a music video.

3. Bjork Ė Wanderlust
Number three on my list isnít quite as terrifying as the previous two but just as mind-bending. Wanderlust from Bjork is a beautifully crafted mix of live action and animation that takes you to a world of big friendly creatures and flowing streams. I wonder if this is what Iceland is like ? If so I would definitely love to visit.

4. Chemical Brothers Ė Salmon Dance
Chemical Brothers Salmon DanceNext up is the Salmon Dance by The Chemical Brothers. Does this contain a message about environmentalism, drugs or dancing ? It could be a combination of all three but this video really makes the list because I love the tune. The special effects are great and everything fits together just perfectly.

5. The Avalanches Ė Frontier Psychiatrist
The Avalanches Frontier PsychiatristFrontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches is a great track thatís built up of loads of unconnected parts that pull together to form a really catchy tune. The video matches this with a visual mash up that forces you to smile when you watch it.

6. Coco Rosie Ė Lemonade
Coco Rosie LemonadeCoco Rosie is an experimental folk band made up of striking sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady who have a thing for female facial hair. Lemonade is a haunting track with a beautiful video set in a spooky old house. If you think the pair look a little weird in this music video then check out this interview where they talk about their spooky memories of growing up in the desert and (if possible) they come across as even stranger than they do in their video.

7. Daft Punk Ė Da Funk
Daft Punk Da FunkDa Funk by Daft Punk is obviously one of the the bandís all time classics but what does it really mean ? It starts off pretty comically but ends up really quite tragic. Is it a commentary on the fleeting nature of relationships ? Is it a commentary on our attitudes towards our pets and how we no longer feel for them in the same way when theyíre not so young and cute ? Is it drawing parallels with homelessness ? Maybe itís just Daft Punk having fun and being a bit weird ?

8. Fatboy Slim Ė Weapon of Choice
Fatboy Slim Weapon of ChoiceWeapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim. Whatís not to love about this video directed by Spike Jonze featuring Christopher Walken dancing through an abandoned hotel and eventually flying around ? It was even named by a panel of music experts the greatest music video ever made for the television channel VH-1.
Fatboy Slim - Weapon Of Choice
9. Ratatat Ė Drugs
Drugs RatatatYou may find yourself unable to turn away from this bizarre video from Ratatat for their single Drugs. Itís the anticipation of wondering if something is actually going to happen that really stirs you up and you find yourself watching the weirdly normal people wondering if youíre missing something. Have their faces been switched? Why are they overacting and smiling in such an unnatural manner? Is that movement normal? Are they hiding something? Somehow I doubt youíll be able to watch this just once.
RATATAT - DRUGS
10. Flaming Lips Ė Watching The Planets
Flaming Lips Watching The PlanetsThe Flaming Lips Ė Watching the Planets. Itís a good job that this version of the video is fairly low resolution so all the nudity is fairly pixelated making it just about safe for family viewing. Iím not sure if drug taking is the source of ideas for many of these bizarre and weird videos; although drugs arenít the only source of off the wall creativity itís easy to suspect they may play a part.

11. Hot Chip Ė I feel better
Iím not sure I understand whatís going on here but I definitely feel better after watching it. Who is the strange creature shooting lasers ? Why does he look like a cross between Nicholas Cage and Richard OíBrien ? This video was directed by the multi talented Peter Serafinowicz who amongst his many credits was the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
