Default How good is Khulna University (CSE) compared to SUST?

Well, I got accepted in Khulna University this year. With my position I can take any subject I want. I'll take CSE anyway. I'll get admitted there on 16th march.

Also I have SUST admission test on 21th March. My parents don't want me to sit for this exam. Sylhet is really far away from barisal (e.g - It takes around 15 hours to sylhet from barisal VS 3.5 hours to Khulna) And they 'believe' Khulna will be better for me.

Now if you ask me what I want then truth is I won't study at SUST if I don't get accepted in CSE dept. But problem is I stopped studying for admission test like a month ago and not getting enough motivation for studying. I also don't have perfect score in HSC and will lose some marks in the test. But SUST is one of the best universities in Bangladesh for Computer Science. Now I'm in a dilemma and don't know what to do.

What I want to know is if Khulna university good enough for computer science or should I try for SUST instead?

1st of all either way you have to live in someplace which is not your home. And I got a lot of friends in KUET, none of them said anything good about Khulna. I mean the living condition weather and all. About sylhet, 95% sylheti people don't like anyone other than sylheti. So its pretty tough for a bangali person to live here.

now about university reputation yes sust's cse is better than KU's cse at this moment. but studying is all up to you. you can shine from anywhere you want. If you have passion for this subject you can surely do great from anywhere. Although environment might influence your effort and outcome.

sust's question is a bit different from other universities and it is pretty easy. You still have enough time to prepare for sust. One more thing is admission test will held on 21st march if Jamaat-shibir and sylheti people let it happen. I am pretty sure that you can't get your BSc done from SUST within 4 years, session jam is unavoidable.

So i would say KU it is then. Study hard and u will surely get ur result.

brace yourself before everything, make sure you can get admit in sust or not, getting chance in sust is pretty easy but for cse you have to answer minimum 45 to 50 marks which is hard as hell, and not to say the sit is limited.. but cse is a kind of subject which depends on the creativity of a student no matter from where you get admit you have to be creative

and trust me khulna university is not that bad, at least you can graduate within 4 years and it has good reputations as well

Well SUST was my only target from the beginning and I respect SUST and SUSTians a lot. But things were different back then. I didn't care about lot of things. Like 30 hours journey which frightens me now. Also back then I wasn't aware of 'Jamat-shibir' situation. Higher living cost and cancelling admission anywhere is really painful (I know, from the horrible experiences from PSTU CSE).
There is a chance that I even might not get accepted in SUST, let alone in CSE.

So like you said KU it is then. Thanks a lot for your helpful suggestion. Also thanks @sensei and @-RAKIB- bro

I bet if u were here, you would definitely reconsider that respect thing.

and yes 30 hour journey sounds pathetic .

Living cost is not that high but the jamaat shibir issue is pretty painful.

and I believe no matter where you are your efforts will determine the outcome. Institution might help u a bit but not much.

    anyway good luck.

No, no matter wherever I study I'll always respect SUST.

And thank you for your support.

vy just tell me which place is free from jamats hand? ru, cu, cuet and most of the universities and medicals are affected by this stuffs, and i spend 1 year in khulna and the expense is higher than sylhet, all iy depends on you, if your passion is engineering and cse is the goal then sust is the place after buet imo, and every students who couldnt able to make up in buet or other engineering universities they dreams for sust as their last hope, i would say attend the exam watch the environment and campus which is indeed great, if those pleases you then don't break your dreams.. and in engineering department of sust you will see lots of outsiders as well may be some barishl people as well? then the 30 hours journey wouldn't be a big issue

Just go wherever, you aren't getting out till 6-7 years pass anyway (Such political condition and all...)

The lesser known ones are probably a bit better off, but are in no way completely unaffected.

Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions. I guess I'll have to decide this by myself.

    @redwan hasan
Do you mean khula public unversity or khulna engineering university? If its the first one, then you should not even compare khulna uni with SUST (SUST is an eng uni and obv much better for eng study!).

i agree with you that kuet is the 2nd best engineering university in bangladesh and they are best in mechanical engineering if i am not wrong but like every university has unique point, cse in sust is the best in recent time after buet and in the recent ACM International
Collegiate Programming Contest, they ranked 96 internationally and buet was 73, and in qualification round they beat buet as well, and obviously cse depends on students ability but for that ability he needs a better institution

and if i am not wrong then kuet and khulna university are one of the universities of Bangladesh which is full free from political patches, i stayed in khulna university for a year so i know that pretty much
