An offtopic: If I were you, I would have gone for the Sapphire 280x Toxic version. You are getting an equally powerful card for much cheaper price. In fact, it has more headroom for oc, requires less power and one generation newer card. Any particular reason why you are planning to get 7970?

280X is a rebranded HD7970. Both require the same amount of power and are from the same generation.

You do realize that the toxic edition is just a glorified R9 280X with higher clocks right? It does not require less power than the base 280X, it's exactly the opposite of that.

    http://www.techpowerup.com/191440/ra...z-edition.html
R9 280 is the Tahiti and 280X is the Tahiti XT chip.
The R9 290 and 290X is the next generation Hawaii chip fyi, R9 280X is a HD7970 with a new name, same goes for the R9 280 and HD7950. They can even be crossfired with each other (HD7900 with R9 280). Look up threads if you want to, even the HD7970 Rev.2 (GHz Edition with the VRM temp probes) can be flashed to the R9 280X.
Please do explain how the 280X requires less power than a HD7970.

Edit: Since when does generation change with a minor facelift? :o It can't even be called a facelift lol.

By generation, I was referring to the release date. 7970 vapor-x is a year older card than 280x toxic. As for power consumption, I could be wrong but either way, I think the power ratings are overrated.
