Default Help on searching for a suitable laptop.

    Hey guys,
I've been wanting to buy a laptop for quite a while. But some conditions didn't allow me to do so.
Now, If you guys could, could you guys recommend me some laptops in the (1,00,000)(1L) price range?
I'm well aware of the fact that a nice pc can be made in this budget, but I'd like a laptop.
So yeah guys, feel free to post your suggestion.

Things I'm looking for in the lappy:
    01. Fairly powerful CPU(I know it's a laptop, but heh)
    02. An ext gpu(For win aero mainly, I'd not be getting a lappy if gaming was my concern.)
    03. A fairly big HDD(Define Big yourself ;p)
Additionally 4 GB or so ram would be nice.
Also: It has to be available in this country(Biggest let down of em all )
    Thanks in advance.

A few days ago I bought one. Toshiba L510-S4314. Config is,

Intel core 2 Duo [email protected] GHz
    Intel P45 Chipset
    14" screen
ATI Radeon HD4570 (512 MB dedicated VRAM)
    2GB DDR3

Battery life is around 3.5-4 hrs depending on usage. Good for gaming.

    Costed 63,000tk.

I also found this one vary attractive, too. It's config resembles Allienware M11x. It's available at IDB for around 55,000tk.
However from my personal experience I can suggest you a few things.

    1. Determine your usage scenario. You need mobility or power. Remember powerful components is going to cost you battery life and weight. I've found that most of the people uses laptop for net browsing, word processing and movie viewing. So a lot of horcepower is worthless.

    2. Laptop prices are going down everyday. And unless Vaios and Apples very few laptops have a good resell value in our country. So spending a lot of money for a laptop is a dumb idea imo. Get a good balanced one and save money. Eventually you're going to replace it within 3-4 years.

    3. Don't get a laptop with glossy chessis. My one is glossy and it's a pain to keep it clean.

    4. If you are going to get ASUS on ACER check it throughly before buying. Specially the USB ports and the optical drive. I've heard a lot of complains about them.

    5. Don't get a laptop weighting > 2.5kg and >15" screen.

    6. Laptop with illuminated keyboards are very useful but hard to find.

    7. Having a alluminium finishing around the touchpad is very useful.

    8. Try the laptop before purchase. Check if the screen and keyboard suits you. The taste of them varies from person to person.

    9. Save some money form your budget and get a wireless router for your home. You'll be able to enjoy the full potential of your laptop.

    10. Dont look at Installed RAM amount and HDD space as they are upgradable.
You never fail until you give up...

Winter do buy ASUS or VIAO.
mine ASUS gives still 3 hours backup after 1 years of harsh usage.
and in 1L price range the lappies you will find these will have less backup because of power hungry components.

Will do, thanks for your suggestion.
Sumon Bhai: yeah I know, thanks as well.
Aayman: I looked at that before(stumbled upon it by googling), wouldn't obtaining the warranty service be a problem in this country? As it's a laptop, after sales service is one of the most important aspects to watch while buying one

Well I'm not familiar with their warranty process, you can try mailing them about it. I once got a laptop imported from HK, didn't ever use the warranty, though the fan did get damaged and it started overheating.
