    Default strange problem need help

    this is what happened...
i tried to transfer ~750GB of data from one Ext Hd to another Ext HD..but stopped at ~135GB cause those Ext HDs were getting pretty warm
then i downloaded HD sentinel pro to check the temps and after installation the Ext HDs were not detected
i also have Panda USB vaccination installed
as they were not detected and the icons changed i deleted the sentinel pro..but one Ext HD that was loaded with ~750GB data was not properly functioning and the empty one was
so i disconnected the loaded one and right before unplugging OS showed that the drive should be formatted..and i didnt
i tried to again but i wasn't able to get inside the Ext HD which is full of data
USB vaccination program hanged and i tried to turn it off from task manager but it didnt turn off so i pushed the reset button
    now...

    i want to know
is there any risk of data corruption/damage to the Ext HDs? how do i check their health status?
how do i convert to usual desktop/hard drive icons

    thanks

try hd tune pro and check the status and may be the hdd's temperature was too high thats why it acted abnormally, let it keep calm and again use it and maybe this time it will show everything normally,
