    Default Re: GTX 470 / 480 Reviews

After reading the reviews...i say not a good card...i mean yeah they are faster in everyway...but they are hotter....more power hungry and loud as hell......i am still preferring AMD until nvidia release the 512sp part....AMD is 6 months ahead and they are very good with 5000 series.....it will take nVidia couple of months before they can go near AMD at chip efficiency......and cards like 5870 toxic/vapor-x will go near GTX480 without the problems...

But if you can liquid cool the cards...there is nothing like GTX480 SLI...man these things are fast.........and one more thing...anyone with normal cases dont even think about buying these cards...with 90+ degrees load temp...they will destroy the card or your mobo in no time at all...

And if you SLI...i think you need a 1200w PSU to be safe.....anadtech showed these pair of cards can pull 800+ watts with the full CPU..:O

P.S: And ¤¤¤¤ this is a paper launch...i hate paper launches...

well, i didnt found that product too amazing. Price is really high. See. gtx480 is more expensive than hd5870 but not too much better fps. Again, the5970 is more expensive than gtx480 and really much faster than that. I know hd5970 is a dual gpu, but so what? Power consumption is not a matter. People will go for ATi until nVIDIA dnt cut price which i hope AMD will do now.
anyway, now i want 2 see what is nV's upcoming dual gpu. That may be the next performance king for us.

really?? in the matter of price nvidia done well this time. but the problem is people were expecting more, since they took +6 months over Ati. & this time ATI need to lower the price of HD5870 & HD5970 for sure. other wise nvidia will win even this time, i guess

    Default Re: GTX 470 / 480 Reviews

Didnt anyone find it absolutely amazing that a single GPU GTX 480 draws much more power than a dual GPU HD 5970? Really, im impressed, nvidia need to get a prize for this. The power consumption is absolutely off the charts. Its also safe to assume there will be no single card dual GPU fermi, atleast anytime soon. Granted, the GTX 480 is the fastest single GPU by around 15% over the HD 5870, along with a nice set of features, but consuming a whole power plant, causing noise (see the [H]ard|OCP review for a video of the noise) and massive heat

ATI dont need a price cut, they also mentioned it already. Based on current price/performance, they are perfectly fine. Its quite sad really, I was hoping Fermi will actually deliver a good blow, and lower HD 58xx prices across the range. Meh

    Summary of performance, HD 5970 > GTX480 > HD5870 > GTX470 > HD 5850 > GTX285 > HD4890 ~ GTX275 ~ HD5830 (oc required) > GTX260 ~ HD4870

bottom line: unless you have a shitload of money to spend and have some serious cooling system, GTX 480/470 is not for you.

Declaimer: this doesn't apply for nVidia fanbois.

in that case the antec 1200 would be the the perfect answer....& it's affordable too...whereas tt armor price is 14k.....the antec 1200 is 11.2k

Default Nvidia First Geforce GTX 480 Benchmarks

Nvidia First Geforce GTX 480 Benchmarks........ Tested by Overclockersclub.

Below is the link of the benchmarks.

    http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nvidia_gtx480/

It seems the overclocked version of GTX 480 is giving raw power in some games........... The GTX 480 blows HD 5870 in most cases........ And the GTX 480 OC tries to catch up with the HD 5970 and HD 5970 OC.......... So I think now NVIDIA means business...........

    NVIDIA GTX 480 FTW.

I attached that review, but I am sorry to say that review omits some glaring cons and focuses on the pros. Also, on a funny note, they give power consumption as a PRO! Wow

I think it'll be better waiting for revised 470/480 cards, as 470/480 are the worst power/performance card of this gen. Perhaps 460/475/485 will be more efficient. But that will take long time. I'm going to buy my next pc in april-may and i'd still prefer 5870 over 480.

    Time for a 5890
