    Default Soundcard Query

Suppose you have a Creative SB730 X-FI Xtreme Gamer card lying around. It's kinda old, but still has driver support upto WIN8.1 http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Sound.../dp/B000J1F1BI

Would you use that or use Realtek. I am asking this because I need to know whether or not this particular card would do my sound any better in terms of overall quality, not only games.

In most case X-FI Xtreme Gamer is far better but few realtek chip is also very good. Mention ur Mobo model/Realtek chip model.

if you are using the z series mobo's then there is no necessary for this type of sound cards cause the builtin realtek chipsets are far better than your mentioned model but if you are using the old gen 775 mobo's builtin chipsets then this sound card will be better than your built in realtek chipsets,
