Cool ExoPC : The finger driven Slate PC

This CES a lot of big Cs like Apple, HP,Archos introduced a new kind of PC. 2009 was the year of netbooks and 2010 looks like to be the year of Slates. iPad was a disappointment to many as it cannot be of any function to the person who really cares about something other than showing off.

Basically slate pc is a touch-enabled netbook without the keyboard. I am interested in getting one because it would save me a lot of time and the thing is freaking cool I have been looking around for best available right now. And ExoPC is that. Take a look at its specs.

    ExoPC specs:

    <table style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 22px; padding-left: 0px; width: 900px;" cellspacing="20"><tbody><tr><td style="width: 100px;" valign="top">CPU</td> <td style="width: 75px;"></td> <td>Intel atom N270 1.6GHz (with Hyper-threading Technology)
    Intel 945GSE+ICH7M
    Intel integrated graphics GMA950</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Memory</td> <td valign="top"></td> <td>2048 MB PC5400 DDR2 667Mhz</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Display</td> <td valign="top"></td> <td valign="top">8,9 inches, 1024 x 600 pixels
    LED backlite
    High sensibility resistive Multi-touch screen</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Storage</td> <td>
    </td> <td valign="top">32 GB SSD drive (thats Solid ¤¤¤¤ing Slate Drive !! )
    SD/MMC Card reader</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Network</td> <td></td> <td>Wireless WiFi 802.11 b/g
    Bluetooth
    Wired network 10/100</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Webcam</td><td>
    </td><td>Webcam 1.3 Megapixels</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Ports</td> <td valign="top"></td> <td>3 USB ports
    Audio IN and OUT
    LAN + VGA
    SIM (for upcoming 3G)</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Operating
    system</td> <td valign="top"></td> <td valign="top">Windows 7 with
    ExoPC UI-Layer</td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Battery</td><td>
    </td><td>4 hours
    72 hours (without backlight)
    </td> </tr><tr> <td valign="top">Dimensions</td><td>
    </td><td>25 x 16,8 x 2.1 cm
    820 grams
    Metalic case</td></tr></tbody></table>

Its not a power-house. But why would you need more power than that on a Slate ? For me this sounds more than enough. And the screen in resistive but they are using a low pressure resistive tech that's already inuse on Archos 9 and left techys scratching their heads because of its high sensitivity. The sensitivity matches the capacitive screens out there. but unlike capacitive screens , you can use any stylus on the screen.

The Sim card support is another win ! when 3G will be available in BD you can be connected to internet anywhere. But of-course there's ethernet and wifi to use too.

Now the keyboard issue: I know sometimes we just want to use a good old keyboard instead of touching stuff. Hello!! USB ports you can hook up a keyboard and go crazy typing stuffs if handwriting recognition and touch-keyboard isnt enough for you and how are you gonna carry a ¤¤¤¤ing keyboard you ask ? How about a Folding keyboard.

    Picture time

As you can see it looks freaking cool . Release date is March. And the price is 599$ !! A very good price for a device like this if it really performs up to its spec

Cant wait to get my hands on one !!!
