    Default SAN Andreas Modding Tutorial

Hey guys, recently, I've been getting requests on how I mod GTA SA. Well, I wrote a tutorial. Here it is, post here if you face any problems

    Hello,
Today I'm gonna show you how to install Car mods on GTA San Andreas Version 1.(Version 2 won't work, if you have Version 2, you've to downgrade, there's a downgrade patch, google is your best friend)

Okay, Thousands of modders out there, everyone mods in their own way, even I've my own, but today, I'm gonna show you my way to mod it. And, it's quite easy.

Inorder to apply vehicle mods, I suggest you to download the following tools:

    1. Alci's Image Editor(Thousand times better than IMG TOOL)
    Download Link
    2. GTA SA Crazy Trainer +151(So that you can spawn the car you just replaced)
    Download Link

And, Backup Is the most important part, trust me, you don't want to install GTA SA again if anything goes wrong.

So, make a backup of the following folders:
    Code:
    data
    models

Okay, For the test, I'll use the Toyota MR2 by Matheus-340, Download Link

    1. Download the .zip/.rar file
    2. Extract it to any folder.
    3. After Extracting it, you'll find 3 or more files, i.e *****.txd,*****.dff and a readme.
    4. The MR2 i mentioned, replaces Comet in game, so there are comet.dff and comet.txd files, and there are other files too which I'll ignore now.
    5. Run Alci's Image Editor, and open the file gta3.img(example: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\Models).
    6. Now, after opening the file, there's an Import* button. Click it, and browse to your downloaded MR2 Folder, and select comet.dff and comet.txd and click import.
    7. Now, the imported files(i.e comet.dff and comet.txd) will show up at the very bottom in Alci's Image editor. Now, Save and Exit Alci's Image Editor.
    8. Now, comes the most important and difficult part. Open up the readme.txt file in the MR2 Folder. It'll show like this:
    Code:
    ...\GTA SA\data\handling.cfg

    1300.0 3500.0 2.2 0.0 0.3 -0.15 75 0.65 0.9 0.5 5 200.0 28.0 5.0 R P 8.0 0.5 0 35.0 1.0 0.20 0.0 0.28 -0.10 0.5 0.3 1.25 0.60 35000 40002804 00400001 1 1 1

    Drift
    1080.0 4198.3 2.0 0.0 0.1 -0.48 75 0.70 0.80 0.47 5 350.0 55.0 5.0 R P 8.0 0.45 1 55.0 1.4 0.15 0.0 0.28 -0.05 0.5 0.3 1.25 0.10 35000 c0002000 01780002 1 1 1

    ...\GTA SA\data\vehicles.ide

    480,	comet, ¤comet, ¤car, ¤	COMET, ¤	COMET, ¤	null,	executive, ¤5, ¤0,	2ff0, ¤-1, 0.70, 0.70, ¤1

    ...\GTA SA\data\carcols.dat

    comet, 0,1, 3,1, 7,1, 14,1, 9,1, 61,1, 53,1
Ok, now the author included 2 Handling files, one's normal and another is for drift handling. I suggest you to take the one on up(normal). So, Copy the line:
    Code:
    1300.0 3500.0 2.2 0.0 0.3 -0.15 75 0.65 0.9 0.5 5 200.0 28.0 5.0 R P 8.0 0.5 0 35.0 1.0 0.20 0.0 0.28 -0.10 0.5 0.3 1.25 0.60 35000 40002804 00400001 1 1 1
Now, Goto your GTA SA root Directory((example: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\) and goto Data Folder, and there look for handling.cfg file. Open it up by Windows

    Notepad.
    9. Now, Press F3, and the Search dialogue box will show up, and type Comet. And, it'll take you to the line of Comet. Now, carefully the the pic below, Do not copy the Name of the car, just select the line

that starts with the 4 numbers, 1400....................... by default.

    10. Now Paste the handling line that's mentioned by the author on there. Save and close the handling.cfg
    11. Now, in the Data folder, search for vehicles.ide file, open it up with windows notepad.
    12. After opening vehicles.ide file, goto
    Code:
    480,	comet, ¤comet, ¤car, ¤	COMET, ¤	COMET, ¤	null,	executive, ¤5, ¤0,	2ff0, ¤-1, 0.7, 0.7, ¤0
And, replace it from the readme.txt file from the author, that is
    Code:
    480,	comet, ¤comet, ¤car, ¤	COMET, ¤	COMET, ¤	null,	executive, ¤5, ¤0,	2ff0, ¤-1, 0.70, 0.70, ¤

    1
    11. After past-ing that .ide line save and close vehicle.ide file.
    12. Now, Open up carcols.dat file. And, in the carcols.dat file, car names are arranged alphabetically. So, look for car names starting with C, and you'll find comet. Now, like

handling.cfg and vehicles.ide, copy the whole line mentioned by author, and paste it there. Ignore the other advanced color codes for now. Save and Exit carcols.dat file.
    13. IF you did everything as I mentioned, you've finally replaced Comet with MR2.
    14. Now, run the Crazy Trainer 151+, and in the info tab, scroll down, spawn vehicles section, select Comet from the drop down list.
    15. Run the game, make sure the trainer is running on the back, select any save file, get out from house(if you're in), and Press Right Shift + 6, this will spawn the comet.
    16. Now get in and enjoy driving around.

**If you use IMG TOOl, then you've to manually search for comet.dff and comet.txd and you have to delete it and then Add it. So, Alci's image tool, usually deletes the original file and replace it.
