    Question Recommend A PSU

    Hi!

I am going to buy a new PSU for my rig. My old one (Gigabyte 720 watt) has problem. So, recommend me a PSU for better performance except Gigabyte.

Right now I have GTX 550Ti OC edition GPU. But thinking to upgrade soon.

    PSU budget 8000-9000 TK.

By the way what is 80+, 80+ Bronze or Gold means? I saw a year old price list here- http://banglagamer.com/showthread.ph...dated-14-11-12

Some friend recommended me for Thermaltake TR2. What about Thermaltake SMART or Corsair brand? What about warranty?

Is there any website for PSU comparison?

    Thanks

    Corsair CX600 (80+ Bronze, [email protected]+12V) @6.8K with 2years warranty

Its Good enough for any High end single GPU

80+, 80+ Bronze or Gold basically means PSU's efficiency,

Here is some quick math for you, lets suppose you have a 500 W power supply, a system that pulls 250 W at full load, and is on 8 hour a day running at full load all the time(unrealistic but makes for much easier math), that puts your PSU at 50% load so its going to be at peak efficiency.

    Power drawn from the wall:
    Basic - 312.5 W
    Bronze - 304.9 W
    Silver - 294.1 W
    Gold - 277.8 W
    Platinum - 271.7 W

That means that over basic you save 7.6 W/h with bronze, 18.4 W/h with silver, 34.7 W/h with gold, and 40.8 W/h with platinum. With 8 hours a day at full load that comes out to be 1.82 kWh, 4.42 kWh, 8.33 kWh, and 9.79 kWh saved per month with bronze, silver, gold, and platinum respectively

Thermaltake SMART/Tough will be OK. Corsair is also a very good brand. You can definitely take that.

take any PSU with a 650W+ rating, it will be able to handle most single GPUs without any problem.

about the 80+ Bronze Gold Platinum this is efficiency of the PSU.

As an AC(alternating current) device power supplies efficiency varies according to load. this efficiency won't effect the power output it will only effect the power draw.

platinum has the highest efficiency. so if you use a platinum PSU it might stay at 85-95% efficiency the whole time. if its a bronze or something its efficiency will be lower.

so if ur components draw 100W, a platinum PSU might pull 111W from AC outlet where a gold psu might pull 125W. that is the difference.

    - - - Updated - - -

one more thing take SINGLE RAIL psu if u can.

unfortunately only good psu available in BD are corsair ones. thermaltake ones are good but not for long run. and efficiency isnt a big deal. you can buy any 80+ rated and it will do fine. these are marketing gimmickry.

Don't take SMART, I had one and it failed within 9 months... now using the warranty replaced one, still I don't feel it's reliable.

TR2 series is good, I had one and it lasted 5+ years. But Toughpower series is better.

Finally today, bought Thermaltake Toughpower 650W 80 PLUS Gold from UCC Multiplan.
    http://www.thermaltake.com/products-...?id=C_00001847
    http://ucc-bd.com/toughpowerst-non-m...plus-gold.html

Waited more than 2 weeks for Corsair 600CXV2, but it's out of stock
    http://www.computersourcebd.com/cors...pply_1074.html

Let's see how it performs. Although I am worried about warranty, because UCC has bad reputation.
