Default Which Graphics Card to choose at 1366 X 768

Brothers, one of my cousins wants to buy a graphics card.his monitor is 18.5'' widescreen with a native

resolution of 1366 X 768.he wants to keep that GPU up to the end of 2011.he wants to play all the

    games(except 1/2 games like crysis,warhead,GTA 4 which are heavily unoptimized) with maxed out.I m

thinking about to suggest him to go for 4870 or 5770.But I am confused about one thing.his resolution is not

too high.is 5770 or 4870 a worth buying or a 4850 512MB will be enough?he is not going to change his

monitor in next 3 years. In many hardware reviews I saw that 4850 or GTS250(in case of Nvidia) is best for

under 1400 X 900 resolution.I read there, in such lower resolutions, the FPS difference between 4850 &

    4870 isn't that significant.is that true?Which card should I go for? 4850(512MB) or 4870(1GB) or 5770(1GB)

since the card has to do the job till the end of 2011, i'd say to go for 5770 or 4870. All of these cards can handle that resolution pretty well.

I have bought my 4850 on 7th april,2009.my res is 1400 X 900.I have played all of 2009 games(Batman AA,COD MW2,RE 5,Prototype,Dirt 2) at 45+ FPS with maxed out.I think it will cover the 2010 well also(except crysis 2).I have a frnd who has a 17 '' crt monitor with a res of 1024 X 768 and a 3870.he bought that gpu on mid 2008 and even today it is performing great on that resolution.thats why I am talking about 4870 or 5770.

In middle of 2007, 8800GTX 768MB was more than enough for 1920x1200. But today, can it handle maximum games in 1680x1050 ? No, 4850/GTS 250 512MB will be better. :zz:

ranjan vai, apnar cousin er full config ta den.

But, eita bolte pari je, 5850 1GB nile completely safe e thakben uni.

Ar, jodi ei tintar modhdhie nite hoi, then 5770 1GB will be the best. but, ami mone kori 5770 2011 er 95-98% game max settings, 4x AA, DX10, VSync on kore 1366x768 resolution e khelte parbe na.

ar, about GTA 4, ei game ta Quad-CORE+GTS 250 1GB+2GB RAM e 1366x768 resolution e sob max kore khela jaabe.

na, apni 2011 porjonto je 1440x900 resolution e maxout korte parben ta ami sure. 1680x1050 eo parben maybe,,, but u know, there are some titles like -

    1. ArmA 2 (2009)
    2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky(2008)
    3. Crysis(2007)(not warhead)

these three are the most most power hungry games I've ever seen. And, ArmA 2 is in the leading. And, crysis ase last e maane baki duita aro onek besi power hungry. gta 4 eigulor samne kisui na.

and u're talking about 4xxx series again and again,,, 4870 and 5770 are similar. 4870/GTX 260 is slightly faster than 5770. But 5770 got DX11, Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 3.1, DirectCompute 5.0, ATI Steam tech and some bunch of other technologies too. Though it doesn't have enough power to handle next-generation DX11 titles in high resolutions(which is not ranjan vai's case ). Overally, 5770 is better. And, it'll be better for ranjan vai too.

aha. Gta 4. Ami quad core q6600 + gtx 260 + 4gb ram diye khelsi at 1440*768. Other details all maxed out.with AA full. But graphics details can be taken upto 11500. Where it has 13000. So how come a gts 250 n 1 or 2Gb ram can do dat in 1366*768? confusing.

I have played crysis, crysis warhead(dx10,2x AA,all Other settings in enthusiastist)at avg 29fps in my pc([email protected],4gb ram,4850 @690/1190mhz,res1400 X 900).I also played gta4 on that resolution at avg 30FPS with all other settings optimally configured for my pc.you people know that these two games are very very bad optimized.other famous games of this time like Dirt 2(avg 51 fps with all settings maxed out),farcry2(avg 40+ fps with all settings maxed out),resident evil 5(avg 69 fps with all settings maxed out),batmanAA(avg 45+ fps with all settings maxed out),NFS shift(avg 70 fps with all settings maxed out) run flawlessly in my pc on that 1400 X 900 resolution. @rion you can see that my later mentioned games have been released after my previously mentioned games.though crysis,gta4 have been released earlier but because of their un-optimization they eat a way more pc power than their next released games. Now a days new games are being very optimized that most people can play them.you can take dirt 2 as an example.before releasing its recommended system requirements were shocking(core i7,6GB ram,Dx11 gpu).but when the game released we see that it is a great optimized game.3 days ago I went to Mazhar bhai's house and asked him about my cousin's gpu selection.he also suggest me to go for either 4870 or 5770.he mentioned only games like crysis 2,bioshock 2 can create problems up to the end of 2011.

well, try arma 2, crysis(not warhead), stalker - clear sky..

about crysis warhead's optimization, it's not bad optimized game I'll say.

crysis, it's badly optimized. gta4, it's also quite badly optimized I'll say.

it's also true that, difference between 5850 and 5770 = 21,500 - 14,000 = 7,500 and the 5850 doesn't deserve that price for your cousin.... so, in that sense, 5770 is the best.

but, as I mentioned above, you cousin's pc will lag in some games with 5770. whatever, 5850 would be better I guess if u got the money,,, otherwise go for 5770.

I personally don't think that bioshock 2 and crysis 2 will create problem in your pc, ranjan vai. crysis 2 will be much much more optimized than crysis warhead.

anyway, final words.... if u got the cash, 5850 won't be bad. but, if u don't,,, then go for 5770.

According to Price/performance ratio 5770 is way better than 5850.if I take 5850 then I have to pay extra 7500tk.but in 1366 X 768 resolution that 7500tk won't be utilized properly.I mean that 1366 X 768 resolution cannot use the full potential of 5850.you may know the quote:in low resolution cpu bottlenecks the performance and in high resolution gpu bottlenecks the performance.according to this quotation 5770 will be most suitable for my cousin as he has a Quad core beast which can be overclocked.I think you have understood my point now.
