    Default Need efficient help to overclock Q8200

    CPU:Q8200

    Core Clock: 2.33ghz>2.93ghz (333X7)=2333mhz>(419X7)=2933mhz;

    CPU multiplier:7x ;

    FSB:1333>1676

    Temp:34*c(idle)/53*c(OCCT Linepack CPU stress test for 2 hours) ;

    RAM: @Stock 838 mhz(after some tweaking with ram latency & memory multiplier settings in the bios;

    RAM Timings: 5-5-5-15

    DRAM : FSB=1:1

    VCORE:1.18750v

    MCH core: 1.20000v

    ICH I/O: 1.55000v

    DRAM Voltage: 1.80000v

    With all powersaving features(C1E,C2E,EIST) kept off &
    with Thermaltake V1-AX Cpu cooler.

    Now my question is: 1.if I reach 429 fsb then what should be my safe vcore?do I need to bump up my NB & SB voltage then?on that case will the motherboard need any kind of cooling? 2.my rams are from transcend which are not very durable.up to which range there rams are overclockable without cooling?remember I don't want to do anything that can affect my components longivity. I wish I will get proper instructions from overclocking masters like MAZHAR,MURAD9,@marex.please help me guys.advanced thanks.

    Isn't anyone there to help me ?

    If u kept the voltage within 1.25v u will be safe. But first set the desired fsb in the bios and bump up the voltage a little. And then check if the system is stable or not. Ur mobo is based on p43 chipset it can handle high fsb. So i dont think u will not need to increase the NB and SB voltage. And at that fsb it will not require any special cooling. For safety manage a good air flow on your case.

    And transcend rams can do 850mhz without much problem as far as i know. It will not lessen ur rams longevity that much.

    So in bios make the fsb 425 and bump up the voltage a little and stress the system for 2 hour to check the system is stable or not. If not then bump up the voltage a bit. And post ur result.

    yup, shaikh bhaiya
    well transcend RAM gula erektu beshi gese amr mobo te, like it was stable till 890MHz & then memtest e fail kortesilo

    ar voltage 1.35 is the deadline from INTEL, but imo opinion it doesnt hurt much if you go till 1.4 & that would suffice for a 3.2-3.4 clock
    ar afaik, do an overnight prime to ensure that the system is completely stable & also run a session of Crysis & GTA4 if you have them installed

    if you find that the system is not stable even after providing ample voltage like for eg 1.3-1.35...bumb the NB & SB one notch & try to keep the FSBRAM to a 1:1 ratio & regarding temps, hope your cooler keeps below 75C

    Thanks. that will help a lot.to me safety & longibity>performance in terms of overclocking.I don't want to rise my cpu temp above 60*c.I will try according to your proposed settings and will post result here.

    Dipanzan which kind of memtest is this?is this any kind of software which can test your rams?if it is then please give me the download link.I need a programme which can make my ram maximum stressed with showing real time ram temp and voltage.

    Guyz don't suggest him to go for high oc on ram as he wants safe oc. In high oc it might me stable but it will lessen the longevity of ram if theres no proper cooling.

    First of all, turn all power saving features, especially C1E,off. Only thing that you might keep on is speedstep, turn all other power saving features off. Thats the first rule of thumb.

    420+ FSB might require a change in FSB strap. What FSB: DRAM ratio are u using? Just mention me your fsb and dram speed, thatl do. About safe core voltage, 1.35V is safe, as dipanzan mentioned earlier. Temps up to 75'C load is fine, provided volts are below 1.35v.

    About NB voltage, it depends on the strap, since a 400mhz strap should not require any additional voltage at 430fsb. if a 333mhz strap is used, it might require a voltage increase, but I suggest not overvolting the NB by more than 0.1v with stock motherboard cooling (ie 1.2v to 1.3v). Remember, never increase the volts if your system doesnt require it. If it becomes unstable, increase volts by one increment and see if it stabilizes. If CPU core volt is 1.3V, and you increase FSB from 420 to 430 which causes instability, increase core volt by one increment, then two. If none of them help, go back to 1.3v and increase another voltage, for example NB voltage or DRAM voltage (check your DRAM chips used, give me the serial numbers in the RAM chip itself since saying transcend will help 0%). Any DRAM chip usually OC to around 900mhz, but the point is you can always use a 2:1 strap which if i remember correctly is 400fsb strap, which will mean at 450fsb your memory speed will be 900mhz, which should be doable.

    Dont do the OCCT Linpack test. Do the normal auto (1h) test. Then do 1 hour of Linpack too if you want.

    Bro,I have given all informations about my settings in the first post.please read it carefully.I am using 1:1 fsb:dram @400mhz strap.my ram is ddr2 transcend so that It is being operated at 800mhz on 400mhz strap.

    read my post carefully. I mentioned setting it to 2:1 fsb : dram, so that at 400fsb (1600) your DRAM speed is 800mhz and operating at a 400fsb strap. Then work your way up

    Also, i mentioned saying transcend is going to help 0% since they use different chips binned at the same 800mhz speed in the exact same model line, hence the reason why a few jetrams clock better than axerams. I need the numbers and digits printed on the RAM chip itself to determine its max rated voltage and overclockability

    impeccable advice Mazhar bhaiya, I would just like to add one more thing: if the motherboard aint that good with vdroop, turn off speedstep & give it a go, this way you can venture for higher volts...but it might not be required since the overclock is not that big xD & dramaviewer: using a 2:1 strap will let your modules remain at their rated frequencies whilst letting your CPU to get overclocks I hope you get it now.
