Default Windows 9 Concept Makes the Desktop Pretty Eye-Candy

Windows 9 is expected to be launched in early 2015, but Microsoft has until now remained completely tight-lipped on any details regarding its future operating system.

Designers across the world, on the other hand, have been hard at work to create concepts imagining Windows 9, trying to envision some of the features that could be part of the upcoming release.

Today, we’re showcasing a Windows 9 concept created by DeviantArt user downloadsp, which brings forth a new desktop that looks a bit more eye-candy than the one currently offered to Windows 8.1 users.

As you can see for yourselves, this concept combines elements found on both the desktop and the Modern UI, updating the existing charms bar with several new options that seem to make it a bit more useful.

Charms are now integrated into a larger design that comprises live tiles showing the weather, time, alarm, and shortcuts providing quick access to specific areas of the operating system, such as settings, Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, and My Computer.

The overall design follows the same “flat” concept introduced by Windows 8 and comes with slightly redesigned icons that perfectly seem to match this particular design style.

As far as Windows 9 is concerned, some previous reports indicated that Microsoft might actually release the first beta as soon as next year, in an attempt to collect feedback from developers before pushing the operating system to the next development stage.

The launch party was initially believed to be scheduled for November 2014, but according to recent speculation, the future OS version might actually be postponed until early 2015, one year after Microsoft introduced a large update for Windows 8.1.

Windows 9 is set to continue Microsoft’s new design line, with the emphasis to be put on touch features and on the Metro UI.
