Video: Resident Evil 6 release date moved forward

October 2 is the new date, confirms leaked trailer

Resident Evil 6's release date has been moved forward by over a month, it's been confirmed.

In a second leak from Capcom's Captivate event - the first of which confirmed Lost Planet 3 - a new Resi 6 trailer puts the sequel down for an October 2 release, after the game was previously dated for November 20. At the time of publication the trailer's still viewable on YouTube.

The trailer provides some new details on the Javo, the main enemies in Resident Evil 6, which are apparently created using the C Virus. From the looks of it Ada Wong seems to be getting up to no good again, although the female antagonist might be an entirely new character, we're not totally sure yet.

Resident Evil 6 to be around 30 hours long




Resident Evil 6′s length will triple that of Resident Evil 5, director Eiichiro Sasaki has said.

Sasaki told NowGamer it expects the games to be around 30 hours long, more than that of RE5.

“The three characters each have their own story and you can choose whichever one you want and play that story, experience that character’s story,” he said.

“In terms of length, each character’s story is a little bit less than RE5 but when you combine them together you’re getting something that is much longer.

“While each character’s story stands alone, all of the characters wind up in the same area of the game, in China, so there is a certain level of overlap. They stand on their own but they do overlap in certain areas. You don’t have to play them all, of course.”

Resident Evil 6 launches on October 2on PS3 and 360 worldwide and in Japan on October 4, $1500 limited edition and all.

Capcom Reveals $1,300 Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition

Resident Evil’s protagonist Leon S. Kennedy has become a pretty stylish guy since moving away from his straight-laced RPD officer duds and altar boy haircut. I guess barely surviving a zombie outbreak awakens a man’s hunger to dress well while enjoying what little we have of this crazy thing called life. Anyway, he had a pretty mean fur/leather coat in Resident Evil 4, and his motorcycle jacket in Resident Evil 6 is looking even more bad-¤¤¤. Guess what? You can look just like Leon for the, eh... unique price of $1,300.

Silconera has translated the Japanese-only advertisement for the premium edition of the game, which retails for 105,000 yen. It includes four exclusive tablet covers – one featuring Chris, Leon, Wesker’s son Jake Muller, and a secret character – and, of course, the game itself.

Or, you could just walk into your local mall and buy pretty much the same thing, with enough cash to spare to buy your entire extended family copies of RE 6. But it’s your money, who am I to judge? It does looks pretty warm. And those pockets could problem fit lots of green herbs and spare handgun bullets. Maybe the leather is tough enough to protect against gnashing human teeth. Who knows? It might be the purchase that saves your life.

Resident Evil 6 is set for release on October 2nd, 2012 and we couldn’t be more excited to get our hands on the title. We’ve got some new info and screenshots to keep you up to date with the latest in Capcom’s highly anticipated installment.

- The C-Virus will be the new ultimate “bio-weapon” in this title.

- Zombies will now wield axes, pipes and guns. If properly disarmed, these can be used against them.

- Zombies can now dash, jump and climb.

- Players can move and shoot, run into cover and dive onto the ground and fire while on their backs.

- All new Mercenaries Mode is available Day 1 for everybody, no DLC stipulations





- Mercenaries Mode will be Capcom’s boldest, most expansive mode yet

- A tramatic event occurs in Chris Redfield’s life during his mission in Lianshang, China. This completely changes his personality to a more cryptic and pessimistic Chris Redfield.

- Ada Wong is somehow responsible for the Tragic event in China, which sets Chris on a rampage after her.

- Wesker’s son’s name is Jake Muller, who is a mercenary fighting in Europe with the goal of earning cash for him and his mother.





- Jake is immune to the current viral outbreak and is contacted by Sherry Birkin in attempt to convince him to help save the world from the recent catastrophe.

- There are 3 seperate campaigns combined in one story, all taking place across the globe: Sherry and Jake, Leon, and Chris.

- Leon’s first mission, taking place in a University, will be a throwback to the original RE games in which horror and atmospheric tension are the key elements in place.
