Exclamation CoD Ghosts - Better on XBOX ONE

While the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts has been confirmed by Activision to run at a lower resolution than its PS4 counterpart (720p upscaled vs. 1080p native, respectively), that numerical difference is less meaningful than you might imagine.

The two versions look nearly identical. Viewing the Xbox One release next to the PS4 , I had difficulty telling them apart. It's possible that the PS4 version looked somewhat sharper, but that may have just been my imagination after confirming the hard resolution difference. The next-gen releases of Call of Duty: Ghosts are so close together that gun to my head, I'd have no confidence in being able to discern which version was which — at least, while the two are standing still.

The Xbox One release's framerate was far more noticeable. As mentioned in the initial review, Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic. The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout.

For a multiplayer shooter, framerate consistency is paramount. Given its relative visual parity with the PS4 release, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a more playable, slightly superior (albeit disappointing) game on Xbox One.

    Review score:

    x360: 6.5

    PS3: 6.5

    PS4: 6.5

    xbox one: 7.0

Another thing that is still a "rumor" but confirmed by actual inspection:

    Code:
single player on xbo 720p (with stable framerate)
multi player on xbo 720p (with stable framerate)
single player on ps4 720p (with stable framerate)
multi player on ps4 1080p (with unstable framerate)
So much for 50% more powerful

i think within a year, all other games on both ps4 and xbox one will be same resolution. Ps4 is slightly more powerful though but I think xbox one has a better interface.

    Agreed.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve. We can already see from CoD/BF4 situation that it is not 50% better.
PC has always been the simplest platform to develop for. x360 was very similar but with SRAM. PS3 was too complex.
Now, PS4 is just like PC where XBO is still like x360 (with ESRAM). So without ESRAM specific optimization, PS4 will definitely have advantage. With the optimization, both will be more or less equal.

Again, agreed. PS4 UI is ugly.

this is it. i got furious

furious :@ click to view the spoiler:

first of all- who or what in hell said ps4 in 50% better than xbox1? nobody said ps4 will be 50% better except ps4 fanboys. and with all due respect to you you seem a like a microsoft fan-man. bcoz only fanboys would take everything seriously of the other fanboys. (if u dont blv see our politics )

and if any1 of this forum agrues about ghosts being 1% better on xbox1 than xbox360 1% better on ps4 than ps3 i will call dead soap and roach to snipe him out. this is not a threat.
reason- this is COD. even if it looks 2000% on one console than the other its developer fault or optimization or priority not ps4/x1.

if you judge which console is better by a release title then I GIVE UP.

and most important of all- games like bf/crysis and all other dual platform games will look almost same on xbox1 or ps4. 19 ar 21. though ps4 is slightly better than x1

i will try not to write in this thread any further.
thats all i have to say.

    over and out

Ummm....COD can't maintain 60 FPS on my PC, so I'm pretty sure XB1 > PC, PS4 doesn't even stand a chance, it would be lucky to beat an Xbox360.

Yes new games will be ready for proper optimization in next year. People just started coding for the new consoles. We will see the true potential in next year end. I am personally holding off buying next gen console for 1 year so that bugs and issues can be identified and fixed and new optimized games are launched next year.

I dont know about others but I find ps4 UI ugly. Microsoft did a phenomenal job with the interface. I think they will reach their aim of making Xbox one a solid home entertainment platform as in the long run, the gaming performance will become same. Ps4 advantage will be exclusives so far. They do have some solid exclusives in long run like Uncharted or God of war type games.

Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 framerate issues caused by it being higher than 60fps

The PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts has received criticism for its erratic framerate despite the console being more than capable of achieving the 1080p/60fps claimed by Infinity Ward. Now, the reason for game's problems has come to light, and it's rather unusual to say the least.

When looking into the effects of the recent patch that was deployed, Digital Foundry discovered that the PS4 version wasn't dropping below the 60fps the series heralds as being of paramount importance. Instead, it was often higher and the dips to 60fps gave the impression of dropping below that level.

Digital Foundry says that, "In scenes where we experienced judder and perceived frame-rate loss, what we are actually seeing is the appearance of skipped and incomplete frames - an effect that is arguably far more noticeable than a few prolonged drops down to 50fps or so seen the 360 version of the game." This is caused by the video output being limited to 60Hz.

This should be able to be fixed by Infinity Ward and the PS4 version of the game locked at 60fps, as per the Call of Duty hallmark.
