Win7 freezes randomly - Help needed

Facing a weird problem. Here it is:

- Two weeks ago my win7 started to freeze/hang randomly after 1-2 hour of use
(freeze/hang = no mouse movement, no keyboard activity. no harddisk activity. only power light)

- Thinking it a hardware problem, i ran XP for some days, and XP was working fine
- Then i re-installed Win7 and re-installed Programs and drivers that i use
- Then after 1 or 2 days, it started again, random freezing
- Now i reinstalled Win7, but didnt installed any software.
- I ran win7 for 2days continuously without shutting down. and its working fine
- Now i m afraid to install any new programs.

If anybody has any experience of this problem, plz help

- My primary suspect is the new ATI catalyst driver i installed two days before the problem started

The latest ati driver is "bull$hlt"
Disables Dxva and yes, enables freezes on voltage updowns/too much load.
I downgraded, i suggest you do the same :x

rafaat bhaya...I suggest you get another copy of the latest Win7 x64 & also the latest Catalyst...they work fine...no problems here

& also Win7 has this weird problem of locking up because of the INTEL chipset drivers...I suggest you get the latest release of INTEL's latest chipset installation utility for X64 Win7, should solve you problem

not sure if its the ATI driver, it may be anything, or even a hardware problem

after hearing from you, i googled a bit and found positive answers abt this
but most of them said it freezes for a few seconds/minutes
in my case, the screen just stops completely forever, and nothing works untill resetting

also, i m using cat 9.10 in XP without any problem, so is it with Win7-32bit only

I don't have any freezing or hang problem.Just my computer gets slow if I use my pc more than 2 hours

i am having same problem with windows 7 64 bit. random freeaws. updated latest nvidia driver. still same prob. but thing is that i have been using 7 32bit from the 1st alpha and never ever had freezing problem. so theres something incompatible with 7 rtm and my hardware which is causing this.

btw 32bit doesnt hang at all. so i am going back to 32but tomorow.

are you sure ? because i m having the problem in 32bit one.

i didnt installed the ATI driver yet. now installing one-two software per day to identify the problem exactly
not faced the freezing problem yet

ya this happens in 2009, when msn tries to download "whats new" info
apply a patch to remove adds and extra things.
and run msn in compatibility mode XP-SP2

No MSN issues here either. Btw Sumon vai, I don't see any radeon card in your specs

Don't think you need DXVA to decode and encode =/
Your cpu can handle em fine.
I dont get any freezeups either but that feature is an absolute must for me,and it's broken in 9.10

Rafaat vaiya, apnar ei win 7 ta RC nato? beta testing period ses hoye gele RC gula freeze hoye jabe ba trouble korbe ei rokom ekta bapar ase. You should try a RTM version of Win 7 32 bit or 64 bit is not a fact I am sure. Also I dont think its a ATI/Intel driver problem.
Dont forget to apply latest activation patch after you install a Win 7 RTM.

and many of my friends are running their win7 fine installing from my DVD.

ar ATI new driver tar sathe win7 er issue ase, net e search kore dekho.
i didnt install the ati driver, and its now running for 4 days without any freezing.
i will install the cat driver after a few more days to really see if its the main problem.

so far no problem with CC 9.10.
