    Default CPU Overheating

I cleaned my cpu cooler few days ago and from then suddenly cpu started to overheat. I applied a non-branded thermal paste but no luck. Plus cpu usage stays at 35%-50% even when the computer is idle(no heavy background process running) What should I do to keep it down? Both temperature and usage?

probably the head spreader is not giving enough pressure on the CPU
or the thermal paste is really low quality.

    just do this,
    open up again
clean both the CPU surface and heat spreader surface with hexisol
    apply a decent thermal paste
    reconnect

check the fan and check the gaps between spreader. make sure air can flow through them.

and 35-50% on no load? virus might cause this

I swear you, it is NOT a thermal paste issue. It is because you can't fit your fan properly. Whatever paste you buy, your problem won't be solved.
