Default Nvidia Fermi Renders Look Ultra Realistic

Visuals stemming from Nvidia's Fermi may make you do a double-take.

    Zoom

Memorex used to have a very catchy slogan: is it live, or is it Memorex? That very slogan came to mind when viewing a few outlandishly realistic renders here on a Chinese forum. Thanks to Nvidia's Fermi hardware, virtual realism has taken a huge step towards mimicking reality to the point of asking: is it real, or is it a render? A "dramatic upgrade" doesn't justify the visual leap Nvidia has made in virtually recreating faces and environments.

    Zoom

Fermi, the company's next-generation CUDA architecture, is jammed pack with more than 30 million transistors and a maximum of 512 CUDA cores "enabling supercomputer performance," as the forum post states. If the leaked images are indeed genuine--showing fantastic ray tracing goodness, facial hair, and even defined skin pores (sans zits)--then gamers have a lot to look forward to when Nvidia launches the GeForce 300 series... possibly by the end of the year.

Electronista points out that a second set of forum users have noted that Nvidia confirmed the launch of notebook versions of Fermi. While the supposed release date is a vague "near future," it's estimated that the chipsets will be aimed at the mid-to-low end laptops. The GTS 360M will serve as the company's mobile performance chip, and the GT 225M and GT 330M will be geared towards mainstream models. Low-end systems will likely integrate the GeForce 310M and 305M GPUs.

When it comes to NVIDIA, the 1st question that pops up in to mind is.. "Rumor??"

However, as many of NV lovers, i also wish it IS TRUE.

Its just [EB]. Not Elite B[a]stard or anything like that.

    Guys,
These are ray traced renderd. This snapshots are not fake, they are 1000% genuine. It is ray traced. Ray tracing is a 3d rendering algorithm which produced life like image and movie industy has been using this algorithm since Terminator two till today's Revenge of the fallen. Ray tracing is too powerfull for todays consumer Graphix card. Only work station grafix cards like nVidia Quatro, or Silicon Grafix workstations or ATI FirePro VSeries can produce ray traced renders. But PC games are limited to Rastarization algorithm because of Direct X. The developers community hoped that Direct X 11 will have Ray tracing support. but Mcrosoft dae nai. We are still stuck with Rastarized algorithm. But workstation cards don't use Direct X for rendering. Ekta Quatro or FirePro V8750 er daam die 10 ta GTX295 kina jaabe. These grafix are rendered using the new G300 i guess and these are all ray traced. You can render a Ray traced JPG with your Pentium D but it will take more then one week to render and produce the final JPG file. Taile Can you Imagine how powerfull your grafix card has to be to play a Game with ray traced Grafix in real time... We are talking about 30Frames of Ray traced Rendering in one second. BUt G300 has the power now.. kintu Microsoft ray traced include kore nai ei algoritm in DX11. Todays PS3 Cell processor, Intel Larrabie, Nvidia G300 all has the power to give us life like grafix like this in games. The non direct X version of some games like Quake 4 has been demonstrated with ray traced grafix. Thiese pictures are real and they are done with G300. So don't gaalify nVidia or Tom's. We all should gaalify microsoft and directX for holding us back. All the hardware makes have the power to to do real time ray tracing. Google on this. you'll find more details about this.

These frames are 100% real frames, with 3DStudio Max one frame like this will take one month with a pentium 4, one week with a pentium D, few days with a core 2/i7, half a second with Quatro 4/FirePro.
So you can easily see why ray tracing etodin desktop pc er jonno game developer ra use kore nai, because for current generation of hardwares Ray Tracing might be to much. But actually not, G300 and CUDA cards are the proof.

The algorithm that is used for Windows based games till today is called Rasterisation which has reached its peak. Rastarization die ei pic gular moto real GFX produce kora jae na. That is why last two years dhore games er grafix e shudhu special effects add hoise cuz textures quality has reached its max with Rasterisation. Games must and must shift to Ray Tracing to achive realism breakthrough.

Microsoft basically DX11 e kicchu kore nai, just added tesselation support which is just a hardware instruction suppport to do Rasterisation more efficiently, thats all. It means that same games will need less juice from the GFX card so that developers can add more effects. Tell me, did you not notice that for last two years games textures are stuck in same quality?? Crysis 1 is the example of maximum texture quality Rasterisation can produce. We will NOT see any better quality color and texture in DirectX 11 generation of games, Only more and more special effects like On/Off focus, Light Bloom, Glare, HDR and such jegula already DirectX 10 e chilo, but DirectX 11 only allow to add these effects in higher amount with same GPU power if the gpu supports tescelation.

DirectX 9 theke DirectX10 e grafix jototuku jump korsilo oita theke GFX professional community bhabsilo je DirectX 11 e Ray Tracing must thakbe if Microsoft wants to keep up the continuity. But Microsoft ta kore nai, they put up the excue that it will not support current/last generation of hardwares, the market will need completely new type of hardware to for Ray Tracing. Well... Microsoft er ei jukti ta actually shotti.

Kintu... Hardware manufacturer ra porman kore ditese je eita khub ekta boro bapar na. They already created the hardwares that can do Ray Tracing in realtime. Specially Intel has taken the lead to push Ray Traching into general gaming. But Direct X 11 jehetu Ray Traching support dicche na tai they are backing up OpenRT, an API that is enabling developer to adopt OpenGL Rasterisation Algorith to Ray Tracing algorithm for current OpenGL games... without building up the games Graphics engine from the scratch. Than means all current Open GL games can render life like GFX with Ray Tracing, thanks to OpenRT. Microsoft is holding us back to rasterisation till next DirectX (12) comes out, which hopefully will have Ray Tracing suppport.

Google OpenRT, Ray Tracing, Rasterization, Intel Larrabee ... you'll get lot better and easier explanations. These are very complex concepts and a lot are going on behind the curtain regarding these technologies. Intel got really pissed when Direct X 11 came out without Ray Tracing support, Cuz Intel's Larrabie is all about Ray Tracing and we all know how much money they had already put on the developement of Larrabee.

Ei pic gula nVidia G300 die kora ki na eta khub ekta boro bapar na. Ei rokom frames already existing CPU (C2/i7) or General Purpose GPU (GPGPU, e.g. Quatro) die easily pre-process (not real-time) render kora jae very easily.

CUDA/G300 die jodi eirokom frames second e 30~40 ta render kora jae tahole aschorjo houar kisu nai, it should be very easy for upcoming GPUs. But too bad Direct X 11 will not utilize these power. I hope OpenRT becomes a common platform for game developement and kicks DX11's bum... taile jodi Microsoft er shikkha hoe.

This a simple article on Larrabee and Ray Traching: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2354878,00.asp

Well... since you are so sure which one is ashol and nokol then take a look at these:

These two pictures are rendered in 3D Studio Max with Core 2 Quad, takes about 2~3 days to produce one frame

    Now look at this:

This frame is done with Intel Larrabee in real-time (means atleast 15 frames per second).

To impliment Ray-Traching In all three of the samples, the renderings are done with OpenRT instead of DirectX.

Call something fake when you know its fake. Its realy pathetic when some misleads others without knowing anything himself. No offense to any primates.

    ok posting it again:

BTW it is true that pics posted by TS are not confirmed done by Fermi.
But my point is if todays GPGPU can easily do this then its no magic the future GPUs are able to do it even better. Emon frame render kora khub e easy, eto shadharon jinish nie nVidia er moto company mittha keno bolbe?

Streamyx, I like your enthusiasm about ray-tracing. and you are quite right about many things here.
however, some of your key facts are "false." I've been reading a lot about ray-tracing for about 2 years now, just for your info.

I do not have time to point out them from your long posts. head over to PC Perspective and search larrabee/raytracing.
they have ~6 good *long* articles about these.
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.
Please do not PM me for support. You will NOT get a reply. Post in the relevant forum section.
