Default P55 buyers, Check your Sockets!

A heads up for anyone considering getting a P55 based rig. It seems that there is a widespread problem in regards to the socket design (LGA1156 only).

As you all know, Foxconn sockets are used by many motherboard manufacturers such as ASUS, Gigabyte, etc. It appears that Foxconn sockets (1156) are poorly designed and provide insufficient pin-to-pad connections and cause the socket to burn, taking the CPU along with it in many cases. Mind you, this can happen to both OCed and non-OCed CPUs.

Be on the watch for this:

So, a warning to all potential P55 buyers, check the socket before buying!

now, what will be the problems if those socket burns ? I can play games or do any other else even if those socket burns. I think it will affect durability (even if gigabyte says their mobo's are 'Ultra Durable 3' ).

Does the same thing happens to Intel DP55KG also ??

Depends on your luck. The socket might or might not take the CPU with it, but even if your CPU seems unaffected it's only a matter of time before the missing pins cause your CPU to die.
Ultra Durable 3 actually refers to the capacitors, 2oz copper, etc gigabyte uses on their boards. So it really doesn't play a role here since it's the socket that's burning out.

Probably can happen if the socket is manufactured by Foxconn. Not too many enthusiasts use Intel boards so I can't be sure.

    1 question to hiei vai.

how can u be sure that Intel DP55WB has Foxconn CPU socket ? I mean I do not see any sign of Foxconn in Intel DP55WB's CPU socket.

I have uploaded 2 pics of DP55WB and 3 pics of DP55WG. I do not see any foxconn's sign in any of these mobo's cpu socket. But, I can see their sign in DP55WG's USB ports.

    If possible give a link.

Intel's motherboards are actually assembled by Foxconn as per Intel's instructions. The socket protectors should have Foxconn stamped on them. So far all intel mobos I've seen have foxconn sockets (as indicated by the socket protector), there's no reason why the DP55WB mobo should be any different.

mayb na, he's right...but that only occurs when you push a certain ammount of voltage & overclock, you are fine at stock frequencies & if you dont play with the voltages

SATA 3.0 is the newer revision of the Serial ATA interface that allows 6Gbps transfer rate
    QFT:

theoretically it allows double the bandwidth of our current SATA 2.0 & potentially newer HDDs & USB Storage devices would SATA 3.0 & to enjoy those benefits you need the mobos that has those controllers (:

as you mentioned try for the Gigabyte since it has those features & is a very good motherboard too

Don't bother with SATA 3, unless you're planning on buying an SSD. And I still don't get why people want to buy Intel boards so much. You of all people should know how sucky they are Rion.
