Default MediaTek Phone Owners Thread | Discussion, Updates & Upgrades

If you are a MediaTek phone owner, whether its Walton, Symphony or any other brand, you will find help for it in this thread. Right now I am using a Walton Primo G1 which is MTK 6577 and although everyone thought Android 4.2.2 update for this line of chipset was impossible, Ananto Jolil lent a hand and I am running Android 4.2.2 on it. Therefore, don't think you should not expect updates for your lame ¤¤¤ phone. It may be lame ¤¤¤, but still its Android - the most diverse OS in the world. So post on about your queries.

Here is a screeny of my phone running a FLY IQ441 ROM ported from a Lenovo phone ROM. So it has Lenovo launcher by default. I optd to Nova launcher. But Lenovo launcher is quite snappy so shifted back.

I bought a Symphony W20 last May,now 1 month ago some problems started to take place.Sometimes the phone hangs. When I run games it goes to the main menu properly but when the game starts it closes by itself and the phone becomes slow for a moment.Hardware problem I guess.I will never buy these brands phone again.

Firstly, single core anything is a pain. So slow and hangs niye kisu bolar nai. And it depends on luck. From personal experience, my phone never caused a problem that I couldn't fix.

Games closes becauses of low ram. You cannot expect gaming performance from this phones and you'll never find sony, samsung, htc or any other brand android phones at that price.

@rrayhan77 porting 4.2.2 for mt6577 was possible for 'superdragonpt' @xda. Even you would be able to port it if you followed his tutorial

In the initial stage developers thought it wasn't. At first they thought they couldn't even root it.

Only if I had that much cash, I would have been using a great phone too... but alas... I have to beat my ¤¤¤ around for weeks working for a petty amount of cash which lets me buy much gadgets. It would take me at least 5 more years to be able to afford a Sony, HTC, Samsung grade phone.
