    Actually 7870HD rebranded to 270x,
    7970HD rebranded 280x.

    OEM=original equipment manufacturer

    9000 series was released almost 10yrs back.......9500/9700/9700pro....thats why amd wanted to skip 9000 series naming and eventually adopted new naming series....R9,R8,R7...
