Default Need help buying a new graphics card

I want to buy my first graphics card since my nVidia Riva TNT2 VantaLT 16MB AGP 4x, tomorrow. But I live outside dhaka so I have to come and get a card. So, can anyone help me about where to try and how the price would be. My interest is on Radeon HD 4770/4850/4870 and a new power supply (Good one but not too expensive). Can anyone tell me if they are available and how the price is. Actually my budget is 12,000 total and I don't think I'd be able to increase it. And also, I need the contact number of UCC and any other shop where you suggest. Thanks.

Since you'll be needing a new PSU, I guess 4850 and 4870 are out of your budget.

Bro you should prefer UCC because they've the best collection of cards, besides u have any known retailer. I prefer known shops because they provide warranty services faster and consider the price for u.

Last time I heard the price of 4850, it was 9000tk. (Ballboy told me tonight).
If u buy 4850, that leaves u 3000tk for PSU.
Thermaltake is the best PSU afaik. But I doubt whether u can find a tt PSU within 3000tk. :S

If u buy 4850 then u have to find other PSUs in IDB like Chiptech or Maxin. In that case u have to browse thru idb a bit. I'd suggest u to go to index, computer source or global brands showrooms. It's available but u have to search.

If u buy card from UCC, they'll push u to buy thermaltake psu from them. They'll probably suggest more powerful psu than u actually need. They've denied to give me warranty without a psu for my 8600gt back in 2007, but i bought that card from another shop and running it still with my built-in 400w psu. So, u should at first calculate the total amount of wattage required for your new system with a psu calculator. Just google it.

My suggestion- Try to get the best card within this money as u r buying a card after so many years. PSU is secondary, so make your own best combination.

And finally congrats for getting new graphics card after so many years
I'm sure you've so many games left to play

You can go for Thermaltake TR2 420 Watts @ 4200
Or go for Asus 550 Watts @ 4800
And You can also go for a Xfx GTS 250 512 MB @ 10500
Or you can go for ECS GTS 250 512 MB @ 9500
Or you can go for a HD 4770

I wont suggest any chiptech/maxin/non brand psu. 4850 512mb is the best choice for u. Go for the shapphire toxic/gigabyte oc edition if u can (costs only 500tk more than regular version). Raise your budget a little and get atleast a tt lightpower.

I totally agree with him. I bought a radeon 4850 toxic 512 mb and a asus 500 watt power supply 2 weeks ago. The card totally rocks. Its awesome, trust me. that card now costs 10000 tk at UCC (they have lowered price recently, I bought it at 11,700 ) or you can also choose HD 4770. thats also a great card, 40nm gpu and most importantly GDDR5 which can process more data than GDDR3. If you can get that for 9000 then you can get that one and invest on psu cuz the performance difference between 4770 and 4850 is not extreme. and you can get the psu for around 4500 tk. increase your budget a bit. even it means waiting for some time cuz you dont want your card to get burned. I had a 8600GTS earlier and i ran that card smoothly for over 1 year with my stock delux 450 watt psu. but after that one day the card just died.

another point is if you dont have a proper psu you cant play all games in hi settings. one of my cousin has an xfx 9400. his pc shuts down if he tries to play on hi settings and that is very risky. So to run a good GPU you need a good PSU. you can also search the computer market on MULTIPLAN center located at elephant road for PSU.

I also think MAZHAR bhai is on UK now. I think he'll be back on 6th august. so you can contact him and see if he can bring the graphics card for you from there. the graphics card might cost less that way.

Check the latest GPU price chart at UCC here http://banglagamer.com/forums/f50/uc...sep-2009-t6691

    Good hunting.

Sorry for posting so late, my GP EDGE got disconnected because of some problem with their P3 billing system. I went to IDB, searched for about 3 hours. Couldn't find any 4770 in ready stock. Couldn't find sapphires 4850 toxic edition. In fact, all 4850s i've found was XFX, which I know is a good card, but I didn't want to buy for some history with my friend's card (Just like, why I don't want to buy any samsung mobile set). Also, couldn't fit that in my budget with a PSU. Then, frustrated, decided to buy a 4670 1GB, but didn't. With suggestion of my friend who was with me, bought a 4830 (sapphire, 8500tk) and a thermaltake tr2-420 (4500tk) from ucc. Don't know if it was a good deal, but after returning home it struck me that i could've bought a asus 550 watt psu with 5000tk from global brand.

Don't know if it was a good deal, but after returning home it struck me that i could've bought a asus 550 watt psu with 5000tk from global brand.
    i think u should've bought a 4850 with 9.5k and tt 400w with 3.5k
    that would be best deal.

Best psu in the market is now the asus 500/550/650/750 watt. They cost around 4.5k for 500/550 watt and 8.5k for 650watt and 10k for 750watt.

They are way better than lightpower or tr2 series from TT.

650watt and 750watt r better than tt litepower(Only 400watt model) or tr2. But tt toughpower series( >=600watt) is better than asus psu. Litepower series r asus psu(Available models in BD) both r made by
    delta electronics.

Ok, all set up. Playing crysis (vablam eita diai suru kori) at all very high, 4x AA, 1280x960 (I've borrowed a 17inch monitor, as I'm currently about 400 mile away from my one). Playing fine and smooth, but occassionally there are some stuttering. I think it's my processor, or display driver as I'm currently using catalyst 9.1. Also tried FarCry 2. With all ultra high and 1280x960, sound and picture gets out of sync. But if i lower just one of the settings to high or the resolution to 1024x768, all is ok.

Just lower the settings if you have stuttering, and update your drivers. 2x|AA should be enough. Crysis is demanding and you should be happy running it at very high settings in the first place
