    Default Child Of Light

Ubisoft announces Child of Light, a gorgeous RPG with an whimsical 'Alice in Wonderland' feel

Enter the beautiful realm of Lemuria

Among Ubisoft's many new announcements over the last several hours is Child of Light, a beautiful RPG not expected until 2014. This turn-based fantasy adventure introduces us to Aurora, a young Austrian girl who winds up in the realm of Lemuria, and finds herself battling the Black Queen.

At a glance, Child of Light's greatest strength can be found in its aesthetics. The visuals for this game are beautiful, done in a watercolor style that looks amazing while also adding to the whimsical atmosphere. Powering Child of Light is the same engine Ubisoft's been using for their recent Rayman games.

Now below the pretty surface is the game's turn-based combat. See those two meters in the screenshots and trailer (below)? Those govern your (and the enemies') wait time and cast time. You can actually interrupt enemies when they're on their cast meter, forcing them to then reset. Sounds pretty interesting.

You can explore Lumuria with a friend too. The second player, should you bring one in, steps in as Aurora's floating wisp companion Igniculus. As Igniculus, a player can actually explore and fight.
