@Aziz by portable if you are not much concern about size rather quality then buy one WD green 64MB cache 1TB HDD at 6k then buy one portable hdd enclosure at 2.9K or high if you can afford. Then you are at safe zone

As more of actual portable HDD comes with laptop hard drive 5400 RPM + very low in cache they are not ready to take the pressure of everyday cut, copy, paste.

@REVx question here is not how durable your portable HDD is after all we will not attach it with a stick to play badminton neither it is a thing we want to be drop from our hand. Question is how much tolerable it is from inside. Jodi prothidin 5 theke 6 bar copy, paste, delete ar mashe 4 bar er motho pura format kora lage thaile shock proof from outside will not be resistance enough from it to be damaged. Yes certainly you are a careful user tha na 6 year wow !!

@Aziz you are the final buyer visit as many shop as you can in IDB find which one attracts your mind.

Copy, paste er bepar ta ki? HDD is meant for data reproduction, duplication, erasure, etc. Etey ki jai ashey? Otirikto formatting niye amar o concerns asey. Kintu copy, paste? Bhitorey to shob lappy hard disk 5400rpm, Hitachi. Ami khuleo deksi, Transcend gula.

Amar WD elements ami 6 yrs use kortesi. Data storage, carrying, copying, taking from ppl all done in the first 2-3 yrs. Oitai amar 1 matro portable chhilo. Still works like a charm. Amar tertiary degree tey ami eta prochur bebohar korsi, daily basis e. Ektai bhoi chhilo, je unmindfully porey na jai jeno. Achhar kelei hoi hdd head jabey na holey bad sectors. Allah-r icchai temon kisu hoi nai.

Shockproof is extra security /peace of mind in the same money u r going to spend, so why not. Ekta 1TB is around 7k. Shockproof or no. Then shock-proof is preferable. Transcends go thru US military drop test.

you can take a look at ADATA HD710. price is most probably 7.6k (1TB)
my elder brother is using this one.

    product link : http://www.adata-group.com/index.php...iid=168&lan=en

    pros :
    1.Military-Grade Shockproof and Proven Waterproof
    2.Wrap-around USB Cable
    3.Great build quality

    Cons :
it is 5400 rpm (though transfer rate is really good even with usb 2)

ADATA HD710 model ta asholei IDB te rare. eitar build quality valo dekhe amar bhai onekdin wait kore sesh porjonto etai kinse.. 2nd floor e accelerator diye uthe hater bam pashe ekta dokan ache (nam mone nai) okhan theke kinsilo.
ADATA er onno model gula ache kintu eita je keno rakhena, r anar por joldi sesh hoye jay ken bujhi na.
global theke khobor paawar 2 weeks pore giye dekhi eita nai. sesh hoye geche.
ADATA er jinish global theke kenai better as they are importers in my opinion.

According to its manufacturer, the HD710 conforms to the international standard IEC 529 IPX7, surviving a 30-minute immersion in 1 m (3 ft) of water. It can also survive a drop test, according to MIL-STD-810G 516.5, which is equivalent to a fall from a table to the floor. (source-tomshardware)
