Default Radeon HD 5800 series will be 60% faster

Radeon HD 5800 series will be 60% faster

Well, I guess we are closing in on the launch of DX11 class cards from ATI. And rumors start to pop up on the web. Some of them are pulled directly out of the *** of some websites in order to get some extra pageviews. This one, however, might be true.
It is now rumored that compared to the Radeon 4850 (RV770) the Radeon 5850 (Cypress -- RV870 ) will be roughly 1.6 times faster than the older chip. Looks like the new graphics cards will also supports a new anisotropic filtering method .
Of course that's the 5850 part, I do hope for ATI that there will be a 5870 part as well and whoops oh gosh would this be its feature set:

    • 1GB GDDR5 memory
    • ATI Eyefinity technology with support for up to three displays
    • ATI Stream technology,
    • Designed for DirectCompute 5.0 and OpenCL
    • Accelerated Video Transcoding (AVT)
    • Compliant with DirectX 11 and earlier revisions
    • Supports OpenGL 3.1
    • ATI CrossFireX™ multi-GPU support for highly scalable performance6
    • ATI Avivo™ HD video and display technology
    • Dynamic power management with ATI PowerPlay™ technology
    • DL-DVI, DL-DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI
    • PCI Express 2.0 support

Anyway, considering the 4850 and 4870 both have the same GPU it would make sense that a 5870 model would be another 20% faster over the 5850. And that would make a 5870 nearly twice as fast as as the 4870.
Aah, the complex and never-ending series conspiracy theories weeks before launch time ...

More informations on the ATI new 5000series which is expected to be more faster than the current series by a considerable margin
Now I know that...the new chip also supports the new anisotropic filtering method...which in turn smooths out GFX details while but not sacrificing much speed
The new mode will surely will be a gr8 hit...since in conjunction AA...the 3D details more richer & excellent

Whats the source? From what I can deduce, it should be more faster considering even after a shrink to 40nm, it has a bigger die size than the RV770. That should indicate that it has double the ROP, shaders or both. That itself should double the processing power, not 60%

I guess its almost time specs are out. I think Sept 12th for official announcement, and Sept 24th for retail availability

Nooooooooooooooo.... the 5870 ~ sub 299 dollar market ... not 399 .. btw this time ati will make a dual core X2 card .. so tri xFire might be supported and there might be an X4 varient which will be like 600 + dollars ...... bro I dont know where u got the 399 number from , but it has always been like this .. the mid range ~ <199 (4850 / 3850 / 5850 or prev gen card) mainstream ~ <299 (3870/4870/5870 ) and high end (5870x2 / 4870x2 / 3870x2 ) are about <500 .. and some uber high end cards like 8800 ultra at its time was priced 600 + .. and there might be a 5870x4 @ that price range .. all of this is just a rumor though ... so dont criticize this post ... anyways theres no point in talking bout the future .. future e ki hobe sheita allahi jane , cuz AMD has a reputation of spreading "FAPOR" rumors ! .. so does the other companies :S .... Nvidia has a reputation of using the same GPU in different grade of cards :s ...(eg 9800gt gtx etc .................)
    FTW!!!!!!!!!!

^ i know tht but recent rumors suggest amd is gonna set the price for the 5870 at $399, and i believe it'll be the case till nvidia can show its own dx11 hardware. AMD is probably trying to take advantage of being the first company to release dx11 cards, and if i was in their place i'd do the same...just look at the 'rumored' specs of the 5870 and u'll see why its priced so high
