Tom Welling makes his first Comic-Con appearance, as some big new footage is shown.
July 26, 2009 - It was standing room only at the Smallville panel at Comic-Con. For the first time in the show's history, Clark Kent himself, Tom Welling made the journey to San Diego, and that fact wasn't lost on his legion of fans. He was joined by fellow cast members Allison Mack (Chloe), Erica Durance (Lois), Cassidy Freeman (Tess), Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen) and Callum Blue who will be playing the nefarious Zod this season.
The audience was shown a clip of upcoming scenes from the ninth season, including the all-important last clip of Clark standing on a building wearing a big "S" on his chest. However, his "pseudo-suit" is not the famed red-and-blue costume that we all know and love, but rather a dark one with a black cape and insignia. The producers explained that, just as the show has been a slow build towards Clark fully realizing his powers, it would seem out of character to have him wear the final version of Superman's famous costume. That said, look for answers about the suit and Clark's flying ability in the season premiere.
- The CWThe actors wouldn't give away too many details about the relationship between Clark and Lois, but Erica Durance (Lois) promised the fans that there were exciting things in store as this season was going to be "spicy." As for the Green Arrow, things don't look as promising. He was a broken man last season who thought he'd figured things out, but in the first part of this season, he's going to "hit rock bottom."
