Aviation is not only about money, but money is a BIG factor, so I understand crush's issue. But why can't you? why you have to be jealous of other for something that you can get yourself?
You have to have an attitude of picking up tasks and making up descisions that has low probability. In aviation they say "When a flight has 100% chance of success airlines call an autopilot to fly the plane, when it has 50% chance they call a monkey to fly it, when the chances are 10% the cancel the flight, but only when the chance is 2% or less then they call a pilot". That means no one wants to pay for a pilot unless they absolutely have to and only when the flight is not cancelable even it has 2% chance. That is what the situation this professions is about, always... no exception.
So how can you ask for garuantee of success as a student when you are training for a profession like that???
I decided to take it up when I was in my senior years in NSU as a CSC student. My father totally warn me that he would stop paying a single cent for my NSU study or anything if I even think about something like that and he did. Cuz I was stuborn and he was stuborn and he stopped paying any money for anything... I could never finish NSU only cuz I didn't listen to him and he as strict. I sold my PC to get around for a few days, then I started to work for F1 just to barely manage enough for pocket expences. I simply roamed around near NSU, asking for money and help from friends while doing small time tutions at people house. August 2003 till August 2005. Finally my Mom interfeared and convinced my Dad, but he put up a very strict condition that he will only pay for a plain ticket if I can manage a VISA out of BD and out of his life. So I applied for a Canadian VISA with a letter from Canadian Flying Academy, Vancuver. ....Refused. My mom then secretly supported me to admitt into BD Flying Club, I did my medical, did the interviews paid the hefty amount of fees and when all process complete... the club was closed down by the govt. All hopes gone. and that was end of 2006, It has almost been 4 years since I dropped out of NSU and even though I found some hope, it was gone and I was right back at where I started, even worse actually. A 23 years old who has no education and money. This is how my career in aviation started.
As of today, I have two ICAO Licences and I just received a US Visa and an internship with Gulfstream International Airlines, Florida, USA, as Trainee First-Officer of Beachcraft 1900 fleet. I am shifting to Florida after this EID.
So, if you still want to be jealous of me, then I would say you are insulting yourself.
