Question Need help for choosing graphics card guys...plz help

hi guys. recently my nvidia 8600GTS 256MB gpu stopped working!!! I turned off my pc and went out. after 1 hr i came back and the pc just wont start. if i plug into my built in graphics card the pc worked fine. so i took it to rishit computers and they said it wont work any more and i have to change the card. but if i plug in the card the fan works.

I have delux casing which has 310W power supply. Now i wasnt playing any game which put pressure on the card so i dont think the card overheated.
Can anyone help me understand what went wrong and if there are any shop where this problem can be fixed?

And if i do have to buy a new card then i was considering 9600GT and prefferebly a 450W psu just to be safe. I also know that similar level ATI cards consume less power. So if i had to choose a 256 bit graphics card from ati what can that be? my budget is 11000K.

I have had 5 GPUs over the past 7 years. 3 of them (nvidia 6600GT, ati 1650 pro and the 8600GTS) were bought from United computers at IDB and all three of them got burned just after 3 or 4 months of warranty epiration date I also noticed that they charge a bit more than other shops do.

Guys plz help me choose a graphics card below 11000tk and where i can buy them from and also if anyone has any suggetion abt the 8600GTS plz also help.

P: S: sorry for the long msg

    I think Sapphire HD 4850 512MB TOXIC is 11300 - 11400.

    XFX HD 4850 512MB is around 12000.

You can easily use a 400w PSU. Good enough for the GPU.

Its just [EB]. Not Elite B[a]stard or anything like that.

dont go for 400 watt psu....rather get 450/500 watt..nd definitely some good brand like asus, delux or

thermaltake. its better to keep some headroom when u choose ur PSU.

You can easily use a 400w PSU. Good enough for the GPU.
wait a minute, are you saying that it'll run on my so called 400W Golden Field PSU?? :S

yes I actually have the Delux black casing. The Built in PSU says its 450watt but I asked at rishit(thats where i bought it from) and they said it actually has 310watt. I guess thats why my 8600gts died. but i ran that card for over a year with that psu. can you explain why the card died after one year whereas i ran it through the 310wtt psu? its a right decision to buy a 450 watt PSU right?

No, I am not. You need ASUS/TT.

Its just [EB]. Not Elite B[a]stard or anything like that.

JUst becaz u used a 450 watt PSU it DOSENT MEAN that it killed ur gpu.

Typical 8600GT comsumes very low watt ...roughly 71 watt......So U already had good headroom on ur psu

    Side.

If ur psu was faulty it would've kiledl ur card way earlier. the problem was within ur card dats my guess.

watt calculation is the main key to think bout be4 buying psu.
