Exclamation UT3 Tweaking for improved FPS

Hey guys, I'm glad that some of you have started playing UT3 seriously. UT3 doesn't run smoothly for most people, that's true. In fact, even a few days ago on my uber PC I used to get somewhere like 60 fps constant at the highest settings. However, that was hindering my gameplay, so I googled the internet for some tweaking to improve the fps (frames per second I get).

Lo and behold, I found an awesome website which goes through so many tweaks that made my FPS jump to over 200!!!

So go through these tweakings and modify your UTEngine.ini and UTgame.ini to get the best gameplay out of UT. Remember to backup your default UTEngine and UTgame inis just in case.

Some specific things I remember tweaking are removing shadows entirely, reducing the polygon count on models, and disabling all the eye candies that make UT3 look so gorgeous. I also made a point of disabling music and ambient sound and increasing the item pickup sound.

Of course, tweaking a lot will make your UT3 look like crap, but it will make your gameplay a lot smoother and enjoyable. Have fun!

The most important secret is to play and have fun. Unless you enjoy UT, it's hard to improve.

Have fun!

So what's the verdict? I didn't get it. Should I upgrade or keep my present motherboard? Thanks in advance.
