Default A Disk Read Error Has Occured

My computer does not boot up and I keep getting the error message that a disk read error has occured. It got fixed when I changed the SATA port which connected my HDD to my Motherboard.
Is this some kind of problem which is arising due to my motherboard or my hard disk? And if so will I be able to claim warranty for the faulty parts? Please help me out, I'm guessing it might happen again, though I hope not.

A few days ago, my HDD died after showing Read Disk Error in SMART. So better backup everything.

Plugging the cable to a different port worked. That's how I'm online now. But I don't know if it will last.
