I must advice you that you'll get better bang for buck if you buy a whole desktop. Anyway Alienware is very overpriced.

God, I wanna buy an Alienware, my brother has a gaming rig and some of my other friends have a semi gaming rig, I never had a personal computer so I want a laptop that I can carry, play games, etc and type for my books, and I don't care if alienware is overpriced, I told you people to answer my question, not to give a compact sized lecture

Ok, You should get a laptop with 3rd gen intel core i7 processor. At least Nvidia Geforce GTX 670M . Nvidia 540m is too weak. 8GB ram would be fine.

@DarkFire okay ..so you want a gaming laptop then i think the given specs are good enough to play the recent games at medium settings (from my experience ) and if you play those games at high settings you should get a 3rd gen processor and a graphics card of GTX 6** series equipped laptop but i suggest you to buy a msi laptop as they are now much better than alienware and also has a good price ..but that is entirely up to you

Nah, I think, i'll get it with the 8 gigs and the hdd, also with a wifi adapter or so, and the processor could keep up, cause I won't be playing games for a long period, maybe couple of hours, couple of good matches at ghost recon online or something like that, I think, if i upgraded the ram, to 16 gigs, wouldn't it be better?

Thanks for the advice man, but, MSI's don't look so good, I mean they don't have the feel as alienwares do, so i'll stick with the alienware

You edited the post right? Maybe, if i like the alienware m11x r3 then I think i would buy the alienware m17x r4 later, after I get my own bedroom. But still, you can recommend me some MSI's

Razer Blade is good and slimmer than, almost all ultrabooks but it has the power of a gaming laptop, almost the same as alienware's m17/18xs' but, the 2011 model of blade is a ripoff, only the 2012 version of it is good but, someone, who has intel in these sort of matters ,wonder, why the ¤¤¤¤ would i buy a machine with a fancy trackpad? Alienware rocks and I know you complimented it!

Not really, the 2011 version has poor battery life, which sucks for a so called 'Ultraportable 17" gaming notebook"

540m is not even a 'so called' gaming GPU. if memory serves me right, it's a tweaked version of fermi based gt435m. performance wise it'll equal to somewhat like a desktop gt240 or amd 5570. you have to turn down the visual settings to lowest possible in order to get playable fps in recent dx11 based games...

Thanks for the info Anonymous guy, but when i watched the gameplay of the alienware m11x r3 with similar specs like the ones i've posted, the gameplay looked really awesome, so, why would my visual be down and theirs not, even though i don't know what they did with their visual

Wait, by 2011, I meant the first release of the Blade, that Blade sucked!!!!! and by 2012 I meant the recently released one, which is kinda better, according to laptopmag

i have gone through countless number of notebooks equipped with 540m or similar GPUs. i know what kind of thing is this. currently my asus k43t has a 7670m which is a bit faster than 540m. the only game i used to play on it is fifa 13. other dx9/10 titles are very playable though.....
