Exclamation ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 or 4890

One of my cousin will buy a brand new pc for gaming & another one will buy a GPU. Both of them want a very good GPU. They have budget around 25k for GPU.
So which one will be best choice for them??
    I am confused with 4850 X2 and 4890.
I dont know about nVidia cards. Are those good in this price range? If yes then which one?
Please give me a better suggestion.....

    regards
    APU

    Off Topic:

    1. I suggest to buy Core 2 Quad Q9300 or Core 2 Duo E8400. For gaming how much performance will vary for dual core and quad core.
    2. For motherboard he has a plan to run cross fire so which one will be better for 15k. X38, X48, P45 ??

    Thank you....

    for gpu i suggest 4890
    e8400 is prolly ~12k
    and quad ~13k
    so of course quad
go for X38 cause that's a intel chipset motherboard
    that supports X-Fire

    1. As far as i know X38, X48, P45 all of them are intel chipset.
    2. But i study some review they write that 4890 is better than 4870 but not better than 4850 X2.
    3. 13k Quad is not support Intel® Virtualization Technology. But Q6600 has this technology. Any one knows about Q6600? is it available now in BD? Because it's very old 65nm processor. If i get that i will buy Q6600 not Q9300. E8400 has all i need but only problem is Core 2 Duo

    Need Opinion........

Default Re: ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 or 4890

Well this was brought up in the "Gaming PC for Different Budgets" thread by Master Chief. Mazhar bro suggested the HD4890. I also did some reading back then and found out that the HD 4850X2 is louder and consumes a lot more power. Plus its also more likely to have driver issues and games might not even utilise the second card.

Given that, I think its safe to say thaat the HD4890 is the way to go.

    Edit:

This thread needs to be placed elsewhere. People won't expect such a thread in the Tips and Troubleshooting section.

    size doesn't matter that much
many games till now doesn't utilize the power of two gpus
there are factors of power consumption also

so if u are aiming for sticking with the same config
for a long time then i suggest go with the 4850x2

ppl can play most of the games with highest graphics in 4850
    so i don't see why u can't with a 4890
at least more than 1 year i presume
but u should get someone's advice
    who owns a 4890
    that would be the best

    lol dipanzan.

Ya I've tried all my games at max settings and only Crysis (not Warhead) had some stuttering issues without it's latest patch. But I reduced its physics quality, and now it runs fine, runs even better with its update.

Not really. I don't see why this game doesn't run fine on such high end hardware. It's a failure on Crytek's part, not Ati's or Nvidia's.

Nope, crysis runs equally as good with a 4790 compared to its nvidia competitor (GTX 275)...Its just the game thats coded badly(no doubt it looks excellent though), hence poor framerates

@ the OP: Go for the HD4890, it would serve you better and later on you can always add another card for crossfire

Also, I think the sapphire card is the cheaper one for 22.5k, bargain a bit and get it for around 22k, it would be a great buy
