    Default Tomb Raider

    TOMB RAIDER
    Developer: Crystal Dynamics
    Publisher: Square Enix
    Genre: Third Person Survival Action-Adventure
    Release Dates: March 5, 2013

    Tomb Raider Features

Although the intriguing tagline "A Survivor is Born" is being used to promote it, the publishers stress that the ninth game in the series will be titled simply: TOMB RAIDER.
    • TOMB RAIDER is currently in development by Crystal Dynamics, the same studio that created Tomb Raider: Legend, Anniversary and Underworld, as well as Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and will be published by Square Enix.
    • The game begins with a 21-year-old Lara Croft shipwrecked on a mysterious island in the so-called "Dragon's Triangle" off the coast of Japan.
    • Before the accident, Lara is part of a group searching for Kublai Khan's lost fleet. The leader, an older man named Conrad Roth, can be seen in the game trailer and some of the screenshots. He serves as Lara's mentor, and she must help him survive when he becomes injured.
    • In retelling Lara's origin story, the developers have said they hope to make her a more complex, human and culturally relevant hero, in part by putting her in an extremely dangerous and challenging situation through which she will ultimately prevail.
    • This time around there will be no real-life model representing Lara for promotional events; however, the game will employ extensive use of motion-capture technology.
    • The voice actor who'll play Lara has not yet been announced, but Keeley Hawes will not be voicing Lara this time. To hear a bit of the new voice, watch the trailer video above.
    • The game is being built using an updated version of the Legend-Underworld engine—the same engine being used to build the Eidos Montréal title Deus Ex: Human Revolution—allowing for more realistic, physics-based interactions within the game world.
    • Tomb Raider staples like puzzles, combat, exploration and action will still be the foundation of the game but will be more realistic and more fully integrated into the basic survival storyline.
    • Although the press has speculated on the game drifting into survival-horror territory, this will not be a Resident Evil or Silent Hill type game. There will definitely be some scary bits, but the game will be more 'survival-adventure' than 'survival-horror'.
    • The auto-targeting feature used in previous games will be replaced by a free-aim system.
    • Weapons may include a bow, pistol and shotgun (shown in various game art), as well as tools and objects Lara discovers in the course of her explorations.
    • While not strictly "open world," the game is non-linear. Players can explore the island freely and can revisit locations as Lara's skills and equipment improve. However, there will be some scripted sequences that advance the story.
    • It will be necessary to gather food, water, medical supplies and other items for survival.
    • Details of the injury/healing system are still being worked out, but taking damage will affect Lara's abilities and, unlike past games, she will show pain and emotion.
    • A system of "base camps," including an abandoned monastery, allow players to fast travel among various points on the island. Base camps also allow players to examine and combine inventory items and access a skill system to enhance Lara's abilities.
    • Changing weather conditions, Lara's improved gear and abilities, and the player's influence on the game world are intended to keep locations fresh when revisited.
    • The game will include a hint system called "survival instinct," in which players can highlight clues and interactive elements in the game world by pressing a button.
    • Buddha statues are visible throughout the game. These may function as save points but their actual purpose has not yet been revealed.
    • There will be no swimming and no vehicles for Lara to drive.
    • Yes, tombs will be raided, but Lara's reasons for venturing into them will be a bit different than in past games. Crystal Dynamics' Karl Stewart quipped, "Unlike before, when she used to go in on purpose, now it's all about getting the hell out."
    • At the heart of it all is a mystery reminiscent of the TV show LOST. What is this island all about? Who are its strange inhabitants? Why is it seemingly impossible to escape? Lara—and the player—must discover the truth.
    • TOMB RAIDER will be rated 'M' (Mature).
    • It will be available for Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The developers have said they are striving to include full keyboard and mouse support for the PC version. They're also looking into producing a Macintosh version, but nothing has been finalized. There are no plans to release the game on Nintendo Wii or Wii U.
    • The first official video trailer gives a Fall 2012 release date.

    Original first post:

Tomb Raider - Underworld is the last tomb raider game also known as tomb raider 8. As a
series their is coming a new tomb raider always.

Eidos chief Ian Livingstone’s teased the next Tomb Raider for the first time, saying the game
is to “reinvigorate” the IP after a lukewarm Underworld reception.
“The next Tomb Raider, I think, will surprise a lot of people and reinvigorate the
franchise,” he said. “There are some remarkable things we’re doing in the next Tomb Raider to make you say, ‘Oh Lara, I love you so much!’”

There is a rumor that the next tomb raider is being developed by Crystal Dynamics & Buzz
Monkey both. In their website Buzz Monkey stated that "We are currently hard at work on our
next smash success." Does that mean another Tomb Raider? The firm Buzz Monkey developed the
PS2, PS3 and Wii for Underworld, and worked on the previous two Tomb Raiders as well.
Underworld’s senior environmentalist, Caleb Strauss, has listed an “Unnanounced Project” on
his resume, stating his involvement includes “pre-production development, 3D world
environment modeling, documentation, contribution to art pipeline and workflow, and
    mentoring.”

On July 12th there is a rumor that the next Tomb Raider content is leaked. It will be in an open world. Crystal Dynamics has been decided to reboot the legendary franchise. The details are surprising. For exemple we learn that the new adventures of Lara Croft will be, for the first time, Rated M. Better yet, the game will take place in an open world - a mysterious Japanese island inhabited by strange creatures. A new perspective for the series, a little scary too. But nevertheless exciting as the possibilities are vast. There are three artwork & a factsheet leaked too.

The Plot - When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hiden of the shores of Japan. Despite several signs of various inhabitants the island is oddly deserted, and an uneasy feeling settles in as strange sounds emerge from the shadows. With only her determination, inner strenght, and resourcefulness to help her, Lara must overcome the challenges of a harsh and unforgiving journey that will take her across a vast island wilderness and deep into the claustrophobic and menacing underground tombs from the island's past. As she struggles to prevail through brutal combat encounters and treacherous exploration, Lara will be pushed to her limits and forced to adapt to her situation in order to survive and escape from the lethal predators that stalk her every move.

Hunt or be hunted - Evade outsmart, track and kill the mysterious enemies that hunt you as prey.

Survival Action - Brutally attack and defend as you fight to survive through visceral one on one melee combat.

Strategic Weapons - Gain an advantage in combat by finding an array of different melee and ranged weapons including a variety of guns and the hunters ultimate weapon, the bow.

Creative Survival - React and adapt to the island by using only that wich you can salvage from the environment like climbing axes, rope, and machetes that can be used to unlock new traversal and combat gameplay options.

Free Movement - Scrale up a vertical cliff wall, sprint and leap across a huge chasm, steer mid air to land a misderected jump there is no one right way to traverse, survive, and explore the harsh enviroment of the island.

One Cohesive World - The diverse multi region island is an open playground alive with creatures, weather and natural events.

Origin Story - This new Tomb Raider concept reboots the franchise by exploring the origins of Lara Croft's transformation into a hardened adventurer as unravel the story behind the island's mysterious past.

Every previous Tomb Raider game was awesome & there is no doubt that the next one will be awesome too. Eidos previously said that they try to reboot the series & want to remake all the Tomb Raider games. That brings the next time it could be Tomb Raider 2 remake (as first Tomb Raider just remade).

To keep updated with the next Tomb Raider, visit the following sites. Crystal Dynamics & Buzz Monkey will be in charge for the Tomb Raider development.

    http://www.crystald.com/

Toby Gard, creator of Lara Croft in 1996, will lead a design group for an unannounced project at Crystal Dynamics.
Crystal Dynamics were hiring new staff on one of the most prestigious AAA franchises in the industry, including Senior Art Director and Producer.

unless they introduce PoP/Mirror Edge styles with lara croft in bikini (gfx on par or better than AniMatrix), this game is hopeless =,='

Three artworks and a fact sheet. That's the content of the leak that gave us the very first informations on Tomb Raider 9 a few hours ago, revealing to the world what Crystal Dynamics has been up to since they decided - once again - to reboot the legendary franchise. Hit the link to discover the first visuals and details about Lara Croft's next adventure.

Sounds too big to be good If they can pull it off I'll take my imaginary hats off for the developers.

Well I guess they did need to change something since Uncharted overtook TR, but this is just weird.

Well the artworks is really cool. In the first two pictures Lara is holding crossbow. Hope she will have guns too in TR9. I don't understand what the third picture is telling.

New Tomb Raider reveal in two weeks

Full reveal coming December 6, hints Game Informer

"A Survivor is Born", reads a teaser spread in the latest issue of Game Informer, which teases a full reveal of the mystery game on December 6.

Only, it's not that much of a mystery - all signs point to it being the new Tomb Raider game from Square/Crystal Dynamics.

Those of you with a keen memory will remember the leaks last year that revealed concept art and a plotline for a new Tomb Raider. "When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hidden off the shores of Japan," the leak revealed, along with plenty more info.

    Yup, that sounds about right.

If you need more proof, apparently the Google Analytics account number for this teaser site, "less the last two digits, matches a number of Eidos/Square Enix sites", according to NeoGAF info hawks.

The Game Informer page (scan through the source link) says all will be revealed on December 6.
