    Default CS 1.6 Tips

    { Article mainly written for teh blog }

I am no expert on CS 1.6. I will share some basic things I noticed (after I started to play 1.6). This tip is not for already-good players. For those who are just starting out with CS or moving from CSS.

    Before the game

    1. Get headphones. You can't play with speakers. Check your sound, check your mic.
    2. Use BINDS and make other changes in your config file. You can bind some keys in your keyboard for your favourite pistol+ammo+primary ammo. You can make bind scripts here ( very easy, try it )

    3. Make sure you have plenty of air and light in the room before you start. Long hours with just the monitor as the light can prove bad for your eyes.

    4. (before a match) have atleast 7-8 hours of sleep. this is as important as the headphones. I am not a fan of energy drinks, but some of them helps you pick up some speed.

    5. Your Mouse is like your third hand. Get a good mouse (and mousepad) and practise with it.

    Starting The Game

    1. Buy plenty of ammo.

    2. Make good use of the freeze time you get. Buy your equipment and plan how to cross your team mates so that you don't collide.

    3. Hear your enemy and act along your team's plan. Use grenades and flashes to slow down your enemy so that you can reach the sweet spot before they do.

    4. Practise spraying bullets. In 1.6, spraying is much more difficult than it is at Source. You need to get used to it.

    5. Spray only at short to medium-short distance. Use a burst of 1-2 bullets at medium to long distance.

    6. Shoot through walls. if you heard your enemy in the next room, throw a grenade and fire through the wall. If you can predict well, your enemy (maybe 3 of them) will die or get a lot of damage.

    7. 1.6 is like real life. Money is a luxury. Make sure you don't blow all your money on a AWP just to die in that round. In other words, do not buy the AWP in a match unless you are very good at it. Buy it at home and practise against Difficult bots.

    8. If you are in close range of an enemy and he is reloading, take out your Knife and Right-Click on their face.

    9. If there is a long alley in the map where you are expecting enemy snipers, throw a smoke grenade and try to escape (unless you become good enough to take them down or when you have a faster spawn then them )

    After the game

    1. If you are playing a match, record demos. Play them back with your team, friends and family and laugh at your enemies. plus you also get to learn from your mistakes.

    2. talk nice to your opponenets and become friends with them. Chances are, they will tell you what went wrong and how the game could have improved, etc.

    In a public server

    1. Dont swear unless you absolutely have to.
    2. Don't camp unless you absolutely have to.
    3. Don't annoy other players
    4. Share your money. If someone needs a rifle and you can afford an exta, give them your rifle. Its good karma.

Thats all for now. Once again, I stated very simple things. this is only for the novice class. Join all our public servers and play all day and night. we need more players !

As always, Darkcrunk doing us all a favour by doing those things that are important to do yet things we are just too lazy to do. Kudos to him. Although i would have to disagree to some points that you have mentioned.. :

I would go strongly against the bind for couple of reasons.

One, in game (by in game, i mean while playing matches with official WCG rules) binding is not allowed as you will not be allowed to access the console menu.

    Two,
the next option would be to create your own config file and executing it. But it is likely to cause much hassle as official WCG rules says that each player config has to be tested and checked thoroughly by a WCG official and approved by him to use it in game. I hope you get my point.

    Three
, except for the right-hand-left-hand swapping thing, you can pretty much assign anything to any button directly from Options > Controls. You can even assign mousewheelup of mousewheeldown from there, no need to bind!

I have spent MONTHS trying to figure out this phenomenon of 'headshot-knife' or 'headknifingzz' or whatever you call it. Couldnt find a way to do it everytime. This is somewhat of a luck. So rather than going FACE to FACE just like an Ko3 round and aiming at the head and right clicking, try backstabbing. Much more effective, safer, and fun. The word 'backstabbing' itself makes me "muhuhahahaha" everytime when i think of it.
