The Phenom II is neck and neck with the midrange intel core2 Quad 9xxx series, and when gaming at a high resolutions, it is neck and neck with a Core i7 in many titles. what makes you say whatever you said? its simply not true

@ Sam: Ask him to wait, so i can come to dhaka and sell my phenom system

But in any case, i know computer valley used to sell AMD systems. Also, i know of another shop in IDB who used to sell AMD, they once told me more than a year back that they were about to bring AMD systems to BD, but i forgot their name. go look around there, ask around as to who sells AMD systems and they will tell you. get the prices and then i should be able to help you out with the configuration, because without the price I cant point out which components you will require

Its sad about the lack of AMD dealers in BD. Phenom II systems are extremely competitive and brilliant overclockers. let me know about the prices, and motherboard models available. ill send you the specifications. also in computer valley, unless you know him personally, ask for reza bhai and tell him your my friend (mazhar) and that i asked for special prices. hel give you a discount

DDR3 has minimal gains, say around 2%. But the main advantage of going DDR3 on an AMD platform is that the future processors are going to be launched on AM3 platform (DDR3) rather than the AM2+ platform (DDR2)...so it is more future proof. But the fastest processor that can be put in the AM2+ socket(DDR2) is very fast(Phenom II 940 3Ghz), but thats the end of the wall and there wont be faster processors out for DDR2 than that one

if he doesnt care about warranty, you might as well bring the parts somehow from abroad. A ASUS M4A78 or M4A79, with a Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition and 4GB of DDR3 would be the perfect platform, and later on he can upgrade to the Phenom II 955 3.2ghz when it comes out.

I really dunno about BD prices and availability of AMD systems. if you can look around and let me know, it would be helpful or else its very hard to give advice on specifications

Not overstating, or even exaggerating. theres no doubt that the i7 is a beast at media encoding, file extraction, file conversions etc etc...but at gaming, the Phenom II is mighty powerful too, simply because at GPU limited resolutions(ie high resolutions) the i7 and Phenom II rely on their fast interconnects andsimply perform faster than Core2

Look Here and here. See how the higher the resolution goes, the Phenom II performs better. and look at how the tiny Phenom II X3 compares here

Of course the i7 is faster, but the Phenom II can match it in many games at less than 1/2 the cost. Sad about BD dealerships, it would be a good contender for Core2 Quads, and the triple core would be a better purchase than many of the dual core Core2's.

But yeah, ur processor pwns all so u shouldnt be bothered

may b he's not overstatin. cz i've seen phenom II systems being benchmarked against low end n mid range i7 systems in different sites. n it puts up a gr8 fight. bt dunno bout da i7 extreme ones.

These benchmarks say that even the lowest core i7 is more powerfull than the most powerfull phenom x4 in earth and is on par with q9xxx series.

    core 2 quad.
OK, i really did not want to get into any form of argument, but this is getting ridiculous

first of all, youre looking at Phenom I systems (and I am talking about Phenom II)

secondly, phenom II systems are judged on gaming at HIGH RESOLUTIONS. at low resolutions, most games are playable anyway, and games with these processors shouldnt be played at 1024x768. and at high resolutions, the FSB is much slower than the hypertransport of the Phenom II, or QPI of the Intel i7. hence, comunication between the GPU and CPU is faster, which is why the phenoms perform faster as the resolution is increased. Also, note that even though the average FPS of the Core 2 may be higher, what is most important is the MINIMUM fps. which is why anandtech states that gameplay is more fluid on the Phenom II than the Core2 in some games. why? simply because there are fewer variations in FPS, and the minimum FPS are usually higher, because when communication between the GPU and CPU is most essential(when the game is producing minimum FPS) at that point the Hypertransport or QPI is simply superior to the FSB simply because the data transfer and latency between the GPU and CPU are leaps and bounds better

The basic point is, go read every Phenom II review, and they will say the Phenom II 940 is on par in between a Q9400 and Q9550. Then read the two reviews i posted, which will show high resolution gaming and show how much better the i7's QPI or Phenom II's Hypertransport is than the aging FSB, which is why as the resolution is increased, those two pull away from the Core2 series

this matter isnt even something to be argued about, its a known fact. even then, people dont seem to grasp the fact

sorry bro if I sated any wrong information but my post was based on tomshardware cpu chart. If u see it u will get my point why I sated that. And I think tomshardware is one of the most best hardware websites. So if they put wrong informations than what can I do? Sorry again if I had made any mistakes. And I dont want to argue with that anymore. Back to the topic everyone.

but keep in mind that tomshardware has a lot of controversy surrounding it, and i can state many, many controversies. one that comes up in my mind is when they disabled DX10.1 in AMD cards "to keep performance consistent". huh wtf? so you wont utilise dx 10.1 when a card has support for it, just because the other card doesnt support it?

    Here

In short, this is only one that im picking on. trusted review sites in my books (stating only the ones that spring to my mind, there are others to) are anandtech, hardocp, guru3d, pcper(pcperspective), hardwarecanucks to name a few. tomshardware is surrounded by controversy, and have been biased on many fronts. nvm though

i used to check tomshardware, and the chart swayed hither and thither every few months, which made me suspicious.
