Default upgrading from onboard graphics to what ?

i and my friend bought exactly the same pc in 2007. his configuration was -

    CPU: Intel Pentium D 925 (3.0 GHz, 800 FSB, 4MB Cache)
    Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-965GM-DS2 (Rev. 2.0)
    RAM: 1GB DDR2 667
    GPU: onboard
    Sound: Onboard
    OS: Win XP SP2
    PSU: 400 W

he had done cpu and ram upgrade few days ago. and now his pc is -

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (2.2 GHz, 800 FSB, 2MB Cache)
    RAM: 2GB DDR2 667

he wants to upgrade his gpu. choices are -

    1. radeon 4670 512mb ddr3 (may be 7500/-)
    2. radeon 4670 512mb ddr4 (may be 8500/-)
    3. radeon 4830 512mb (12500/-)
    4. radeon 4850 512mb (15000/-)

his wants are also similar to mine. playing latest and upcoming first person and third person titles (specially crysis, f.e.a.r. 2, gta iv, assassin's creed, dead space, far cry 2 and the wheelman) in 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution, turning sound, A.I. and physics at max, AA to off (or may sometimes 2x or 4x), IQ to medium or high (and may be very high), and in DX9 mode. just want more than 15 fps.

so, which will be the best ?

sorry sorry. i just wrote that from my guessing and then i phoned him to know his exact want. after knowing that, i find out that CvP and Wintereise has already answered that question.

ok guys, i'll never do this kind of mistakes again. and his real want is -

    1. 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution
    2. sound, A.I. and physics at max
    3. AA to off
    4. IQ to medium or high
    5. in DX9 mode

just want more than 15 fps. he is in a extremely tight budget. so i thought may be 4670 512mb ddr3 would be enough for him, what do you guys say ?

    thanks.

i'm using 4670 &played crysis warhead @1280X1024 AA=4X and every other setting was set to mainstream except for the shader performance which was set to gamer.i was only able to play the first stage(call me Ishmael) & till then the game was very smooth on my 4670.i also played assasin's creed @1280X1024 @max settings dead [email protected] @medium setting mirror's [email protected] @max setting.so i guess u'll be ok @1024X768 in any current game.
