Thread: Game suggestions, please.

  1. #1

    Default Game suggestions, please.

    Mornin', fellas.
(Not sure if I am posting in the correct section.)

'Tis the fact that a visit to the tech equivalent of a prison camp--with no access to a desktop (let alone a good one) and very limited internet connection--is becoming inevitable why I come here today to pick the brains of the likes of you. I have an AMD E2-1800 (with a Radeon 7340, and 6GB DDR3 memory) on a notebook to keep me company during this turmoil. Very weak, yes, I am aware of that: Gaming on this being an option was never anticipated. Basically, I'll be rerunning games with low requirements and indulging in some of the older games I haven't gotten the scope to play yet; and I need you kind fellas here to suggest moar.

    I have these so far:
    • Baldur's Gate
    • Beyond Good and Evil
    • Borderlands (I can never get tired of the Siren class. Not sure if it'll run BL2 though.)
    • Cold Zero
    • Commandos (the older ones. Strike Force is a deal breaker.)
    • C&C: Red Alert 2
    • Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive
    • Legacy of Kain (all of them!)
    • Portal!
    • Torchlight (and I'll rerun TL2, if bored enough)
    • Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
    • Warcraft III

...and rerunning a bunch of indie games like Braid, Bastion, Limbo, Machinarium, Plants vs Zombies, Trine, etc.

Would anyone recommend Mark of the Ninja? That being said, I am not a sports game person but RPGs or anything to do with epic fantasy, third person shooters, sci-fi/space drama and such are welcome.

    Thank you in advance!

TL;DR: I need games that will run on an entry-level laptop. Fire away!

Speaking of FPS reminds me of SWAT4. Added to the list.

Ah well, even whilst playing those for the first time, it felt like a major repetition. Not sure if I can stomach the entire thing again. I might have a copy of COD2 lying around somewhere though-- that one's campaign was rather fun. Thank you!

I don't think my E2 can sustain the ME series. I'll be very thrilled if it does though.

I'll go install all of Dragon Age and Mass Effect right now. I can live off these two series forever. And ever. Ever. Ever. (echoes.)

I planned on rerunning Dragon Age: Origins for the eight time anyway; Dragon Age 2 though, not really. I'm still sitting on a few side quests from ME3: Citadel because I didn't want the series to end. Guess I'll finally learn to 'love something enough to let it go'.

I'll report back with performance later. Thanks, mate!

If you're into C & C: Red Alert 2, why aren't you getting the expansion pack, Yuri's Revenge, or do you have it already? I've spent so much time playing with Yuri's side, and with all the mods and stuff available, the entertainment never ends! And if you are into classics, try getting games from the Myst and Thief series, they should run on your laptop, but you may have to google a bit for widescreen compatibility. And Clive Barker's Undying is a must if you are into classics, it'll run just fine even on an Intel 945GMA, it's based on the Unreal Engine 1.5.

Yuri's Revenge: Already have it! That being said, I should have Starcraft/Brood War somewhere as well. It's been long since I went on an RTS rampage.

Myst: I just looked it up and I'm loving the environment design so far. In fact, it's bloody amazing! Added to the list. Many thanks, dear stranger. Speaking of
widescreen fixes, I should pack Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic--BioWare at its best.

Thief: Thief! How could I have forgotten about this?

    Undying: Downloading as we speak.
