In that case CvP get 64GB RAM since there are BF discounts, you never know if DRAM prices increase again.

    Yes, that's decided already.

And buy rams if you want to now. DRAM prices will increase soon.

I'm still using my 4670k setup and stuck with DDR3.

I need massive CPU power for running server/vm, program compilation (nodejs, react, java etc) and running multiple heavy IDE with many electron apps.

Also, security is extremely important. Intel f'd me up with their so many spectre/meltdowns that my 3770K is much slower compared to past. Not gonna fall in to the same trap again. When Intel fixes all these in a ground up new design, I will consider buying them again. Until then, I wont give them my money even if they perform better (in anything).

    Yes, it is CJR.

Money isn't a very big issue.

I think I will not limit myself to 32G. That's too big of a risk considering all the stuff I run (and have to run in near future).

    Will get either a CJR 4x16G ($350) or b-die 4x16G ($580). Don't care either way.

@Mazhar do you have any comments about Gigabyte Aorus x570 Xtreme vs ASUS VIII Hero in terms of:
    1. FCLK 1866+ ? (apparently gigabyte boards can't boot with 1900 FCLK)
    2. 4x16GB @ 3600/3733/3800 with CL16 (16-16-16-36) ? (notice the distinct lack of 4x16GB official support in gigabyte QVL list)

    For reference:
    Gigabyte QVL: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileLi...sse_190812.pdf
    ASUS QVL: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...QVL_190801.pdf
Gigabyte boards can boot with a 1900FCLK as long as the CPU supports it. Make sure to update to the latest AGESA. But it will be difficult with 4x16GB so its not a given, but with a 3950X it's possible. Memory overclocking seems a wash between the boards in the upper mid tier (discounting the extreme tier boards). You should be fine getting the Hero, Aorus master, MEG X570 ACE or even the Taichi. MSI seems to do the best with two channels populated, and ASUS seems to do the best with 4 channels. But there's not much among them to be honest. Go for the ASUS. I do see it missing in Gigabyte's QVL but with a lot of people going for 4x16GB with the low prices of 16GB sticks and all, they'll update the BIOS and test those sticks anyway regardless of whether its added to the QVL.

I wouldn't recommend getting the Aorus Extreme or any board in that category. With that price you might as well wait for 3960X and get that instead.

I have official confirmation from Gigabyte that 4x16GB @ 3600MHz+ is not supported on this board (or any other gigabytes at this moment; as far as i can tell). 4x16GB will work @3400 or below.
I got a really good deal on the board; that's why it was in my consideration.

That's good information. I don't think the other manufacturers suppport 4x16 above 3600Mhz either though? I could be mistaken

Are you sure you're not going to wait for 3960X? Lower end boards seem to be around $450 (ASRock creator, ASUS Strix). So total would be $1400+ 450 as opposed to 750+300. Good upgrade path though, theres the 3990X coming which could be a great used drop in the future

Why not opt for an ASUS X570 instead? It is bound to have better memory compatibility.
Though Dual Rank (not just dual channel) is more stressful on the IMC and your mileage will vary.
