Default Heating problem and applying thermal paste.

Hey, I have an Asus K42JY laptop. Its two years old. For the first year everything was absolutely fine, played games in high without a problem. Then suddenly u started having problems. While playing games, i would start lagging a lot with a scratching sound for like 15 seconds, then back to normal for 10 seconds. This kept on continuing. So i started looking for solutions online and the best one i found was my GPU was heating up too much, and to save the GPU it lagged. (Maybe i didnt explain it right). Anyway it told me to reapply my thermal compound. So i went to IDB, looking for the thermal pounds and stuff, i found some costing 30tk., 100tk. with korean or chinese stuff written on them. I even went to some of the shops and some of them replied that GPU dont even have thermal compound. Anyway, i just made one of them clean my fan and came back home. This is improve my temps. (Previous temps; idle; 65 C - 70 C load - 80 C - 90 C. Now idle; 50 C - 60 C load 65 C - 75 C). I'm still not satisfied as now this temps are based on me playing games on low. Anyway so i went online and bought Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) Paste and Articlean Cleaner.

My question is, is AS5 a good compound and does anybody know how to apply it an laptop GPU and CPU. Also, please do let me know id i'm missing something or you guys have a better solution.

Thank you, i will really appreciate your help on this.

AS is a really good TIM. but to apply it to your laptop cpu and gpu, just put a little bit of TIM, then use something like credit card (something strong) to rub and spread equally to all the surface and reassemble your heatsinks with your cpu and gpu. tricky part is to disassemble and reassemble your laptop.
