Default No DirectX 12 API in the near future

In an interview with German publication Heise.de AMD Vice President of global channel sales, stated that his company doesn't believe there'll be a new DirectX API (preferrably DirectX 12), yet on the nearest horizon.

Neither any update of Microsoft's latest Windows 8 nor the potentially rumored Windows Blue 8.1 will have it.

In another query he hinted about Battlefield 4, latest inclusion in EA's blockbuster online MP franchise being part of the company's upcoming "Never Settle" bundle.

Once upon a time, Video memory in graphics cards were the main spec to look for while while considering one.. now its one of the many specs to look for and by far not the only one that matters...

I can see DirectX becoming one of those irrelevant stuff where future graphics innovations will be more and more dependent on newly developed technologies that are not dependent on directx perhaps...

    Not really.

Anyways, DirectX is well ahead of the GPU hardware. Expect DX12 next year though.

2 years to be exact. Windows 8.1 Blue te DX 12 ashbe na aita jana kotha. Expect it to debut with Win 9 by 2015 or a lil later. Besides, I believe DX 11 has a few more trick up it's sleeves, which are yet to be seen.
