Default Referb Macbook pro retina worth buying?

    Hello!

There are macbook pro retina 2013 / 2014 / 2015 models available in stores, which I can only assume are used or referb. Are they usually reliable or in seriously bad condition only to be discovered after a few days of use? I don't have the least idea on apple laptops, except lots of reviews from youtube, so can't tell the difference before buying.

Also, do most (new) apple laptops sold in Bangladesh have problems and end up in the service center in a year or so? Not mentioning the models with obvious graphic issues.

The thing is, the latest macbook pro models are quite expensive, and only older models are in near-affordable price (still high though). That is why I need your valuable input, whether it is a wise decision to buy one of those, or just spend the money on a desktop.

    Thank you.

Unless you NEED the Mac OS (iOS app development, music/photo/video editing with software that is available only on Mac) stick with Windows. Don't use it as a fashion statement. Ofc you could dual boot Windows and still buy it to show off but usually nobody cares like if you had an iPhone.

If your workload needs a Macbook, try 2014 and older models. 2015 year model specifically Retina version had battery issues and Apple had to recall them. And 2015 is also the year they also introduced butterfly keyboard that is not durable at all.

Yeah, you're not a bot. Sorry about that.

I do hunt bots every now and then, but after seeing your post, I was like God Damn, these AI/ML shenanigans has gone too far.

    Once again, really sorry.

Macbook pro sold between September 2015 to February 2017 has severe battery overheating issues and are known to cause fire hazards. FAA also banned them on flights in U.S. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...s-from-flights

I totally agree with you. Show-off etc. doesn't give enough reason to get those. The fast responsive os caught my eye first, which particularly Windows 10 builds couldn't provide even after adding an SSD. Probably there was something wrong with the Windows OS I had, but then again, I tried about 5-10 different versions and builds. A hackintosh could suffice easily, i believe. Then there is that bloody retina display, I wish I never had learned about it. And I think anyone who experienced apple products around him and everywhere but not himself, raises that never-ending curiosity for apple products.

Not joking or being arrogant, the macbook might bring workload, who knows.

I'll remember that about 2015 models.

I wonder why we see all those videos & jokes promoting this defect heavily only about Samsung. Explains the mechanism of the 'world' I suppose. Or maybe it's just me.

So.... if your current/not-so-sure future workload does not involve dealing with any Mac-exclusive software, and your main priority is fast responsive OS, then why not just go for a Linux OS??

I wanted to buy one referb/used macbook 2012/2013/2014 with 15 inch screen and 16gb ram, for iOS development. I have been looking for one for about 5-6 months in fb/bikroy. But I hardly find any and even if I find one or two, they are highly overpriced. I wish I had a relative in the US!

No, But I did try VMware and MacOS high sierra is currently installed inside the VMware, but even with Samsung 860 evo, it's not that fast. Also, if I really want to access all the features of iOS development, I will need an actual Mac!

Few years ago when I was about to install Linux, read that the instability will certainly crash the system today or tomorrow, so I should be ready to accept it along with data loss at worst case. That was enough to be discouraged. Well I do work with audio / video editing every once in a while, and I remember back in 2007 I was asked to try Ableton if I really want to catch up with the professionals.

    Retina bro, retina!
