Thread: Need a cheap monitor temporarily

  1. #1

Default Need a cheap monitor temporarily

My 10 year old LCD is finally dying but right now I can't get a freesync monitor because of few issues:

    1. My GPU is 980 Ti and so I can't enable FreeSync.

    2. Which wouldn't be an issue normally since I could just buy FS monitor and then when I upgrade my GPU, I could use it.

    3. But freesync monitors [with LFC] aren't cheap. And some FS monitors are defective. And if I can't test them on my current GPU and later [3-4 years later] find out that the monitor has defective Free Sync support, I will get fuked. Since by then I won't have enough budget to buy another monitor.

So what I'm planning to do now is to buy a very cheap LCD monitor that I can use for 3-4 years and then finally switch to a better FreeSync monitor along with upgrading my PC.

A monitor for 5000 Tk would be great, if one even exist [Can't go above 7000 Tk at the moment]. I mean how bad could it at that price compared to my 10 year old TN panel?

Also, here's my monitor, dying slowly [Now to the point of becoming unusable]:

    I can see stars now.

Kinda looks like butt too. Maybe someone sat on my monitor while I was not in home, thus destroying it with an pattern that looks like asss.

Edit: I'm going to ignore unhelpful comments since it's not worth my time. I'm currently looking for some monitors myself, but if anyone has better suggestions for monitors at the price range I mentioned, I would appreciate it if you share the info with me.

This one caught my attention: http://ucc-bd.com/viewsonic-monitor-...21-5-2623.html

It's a bit above my budget but it seems to support 50-75Hz. 50Hz would be very useful for me. Can anyone confirm if this monitor really can do 50Hz without any OSD warning pop up issues?

It is totally beyond my knowledge and understanding as to why you have been using a cheap 10 year old monitor with such a decent high-end GPU (of its time, and still is I must say). It is a total injustice for that 980 Ti. Really sad

I've had fun experiences with them. Sometimes they literally do same-day delivery others, they take 5~6 days but at least they deliver.

Most of the sales representatives there have no idea about their stocks or the products. Had a first hand experience when I went to buy my pc, one guy confused the hell out of me.

    So true.
Not only startech, had similar experience with ryans as well....They have to check on their website for price and stock availability.Sometimes sales rep doesn't even know anything about the products....

Just buy the XG2401. Even if its Freesync is defective, not like you ever needed it and it is still 144hz. I've used my LG 75hz Freesync with my old 560 Ti just cause turning on FS gave me full 75hz.
