    Default AC Odyssey Support Thread

So Assassins Creed Odyssey has been out for a while however, I've seen that pc performance hasn't been great for a lot of people especially on rigs sporting 4c4t (quad core) cpus. From some benchmarks, I've gathered that the fps increases linearly as core count increases upto and including 6c6t and then it sort of levels off after that.

So I opened this thread to help those who are having performance issues playing this specific game.

Most guides suggest that Volumetric Clouds and Depth of Field guzzle cpu resources like crazy so turn those down.
Others have suggested lowering Environmental Detail and Clutter.

I'm experiencing heavy cpu usage myself and sometimes feel that the gpu is getting bottlenecked. My 3770K is showing its age now I guess. Following those advice helped smooth the gameplay a bit but not by much. There are few lags here and there along with occasional stutters especially in crowded regions.

It's become common for Ubisoft's engine to use up a lot of cpu power. Maybe because of sub-par optimization. Don't get me wrong though, the game looks stunning.

(Trivia: I've also read somewhere the PC port has been developed by Ubisoft Kiev. They supposedly have a track record of badly porting games over to pc. I can't confirm this.)

See if this helps and feel free to share your experience/perf tips.

I used the following settings according to the video by Digital Foundry. With these settings I managed to stay above 60 fps at all times at 1440p resolution, although I never faced any CPU bottlenecks as I have i7 8700k with GTX 1070. Even AC: Origins had similar high CPU usage, and the use of Denuvo drm usually gets the blame from everyone for this

Hardware Unboxed also has an optimization guide of their own.
