Meet Your Makers captain Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen spoke for his “skillful and serious” team-mate René 'Ciara' Krag and threw light on why they did not move for former Gravitas Gaming duo Mykhaylo 'HoT' Novopashyn and Yoan “ToD” Merlo.
‘Really cool team’
ESNation took everyone, including the players themselves, by surprise when they announced the departure of both WC3 and SC squads with strategic concerns in late January. In spite of returning with a totally different team from the bygone era, the Dutchman is buoyant for the new team that he had a lot of say in the making. “I was very shocked... we were talking about all sorts of plans, and I guess it took everyone a bit by surprise.” said Grubby in an interview with
Fragster.de. “They(Frontspawn) told me about their plans with me and to create a new WC3 team. I had a lot of say in the development of it, and I think we have a really cool team now.”
Quality players
One of the most exciting players last year,
Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin became the first signing of the reborn Devils the day after they reopened their WC3 department, followed by another homecoming of the Danish Orc finest
René 'Ciara' Krag, completing their squad for the time being. It was their quality, and furthermore their hunger for success that caught Grubby’s eyes. “I just looked at players who have proven themselves to have what it takes to win top matches, both online and offline. More pluspoints was for them to be mature, professional, friendly.” adding: “they both were eager at the opportunity, and I'm happy with their enthusiasm.”
Ciara, HoT and ToD
Many might not expect Ciara coming but for Grubby who saw a “sea of potential” of his Orc brother when they first introduced him to the public, the choice couldn’t be more obvious. “Ciara is a logical choice for many reasons, since he's skillful and serious. He's also from Denmark, like the management, and he has a good relation with everyone on our team.” said Grubby, who meanwhile considered budget as the main barrier that blocked the former Gravitas Gaming pair’s way to MYM. “I more or less know the range of financial support ToD or HoT would require from a team, as they are full time progamers and get invited to a lot of tournaments... Since we're starting out new as a team, the budget cannot reach to that level yet.”
